eBay users! Don't ignore today's email, even though it looks like a boring standard update to the User Privacy Notice. They want to use your data to train AI models. If you click the link over the words "the right to object", it takes you to a page with a toggle button letting you opt out.

emergency evacuation flight angels ask: we donโ€™t have a united miles donor large enough to handle this, it has to be booked together due to the kids flying. and the flight is happening TOMORROW, one of the only flights that meets the familyโ€™s needs. help us keep them together: @ziibiing on venmo

I donโ€™t get this. I have yet to figure out anything that AI can do to make my home or work life better. Iโ€™m thoroughly unimpressed. How do people blow this kind of money?

A little bit of recentism here, but I've been impressed by Helene Wecker. For three books she's kept about four parallel plots going and none of them get in the way of the other.

#WriteStuff A6 I may be the wrong person to ask, since my main stories tend to NOT conclude. But no, subplots don't need to resolve neatly. They can, and it can make for a fun story. But it isn't necessary

WriteStuff@writestuff.bsky.social

#WriteStuff Q6 Do subplots have to resolve neatly? Or can they dangle a bit when the main story concludes?

#Writestuff A5 Yeah, I led the witness there. But for everyone struggling, this is the key. You have supporting characters to interact with your main character and those interactions have to have a foundation. If you can't get that foundation in your main plot, build it with a subplot.

#WriteStuff A3 Subplots could enhance the story by seeing the same issues from different character's points of view. For instance, Ethan sees Gabrielle space out at Zomnibus, the zombie rave in Salem, MA. From her POV, she's seeing a horrifying vision which will happen shortly and she's terrified.

#WriteStuff Q3 Why have subplots at all?

Woke up early and couldnโ€™t sleep, so I messaged two companies whose websites recently were too limiting for me to place an order. When trying to get the website issues resolved by phone, both failed when speaking to real people, too.
