It's kinda hard to believe that Sabrina Online has been going regularly for 30 years (save for a little break around 2016), but here we are. Thanks to everyone out there new & old who have read, enjoyed, and supported Sabrina over all these years! sabrina-online.com #SabrinaOnline #SabrinaOnline30

...and I was blaming my hardware and OS for #warframe looking and performing strangely worse than before (playing since beta). youtu.be/Xh0NsyJgh2g Surely there were reasons for this move, but time passing by and nothing changes, only masking the issues. Disappointing :(

Checked some recent award-winning websites and feels like I became out of touch - all of them have two things in common: - scroll-driven animations. yeah I just loooove to watch movies by manually rolling the tape. - <marquee>?? who tf dig it from the grave??? I can't be the only one, can't I? O_o

People are always talking about the things we have today that our ancestors didn't, but nobody wants to look at the things our ancestors had that we've lost. Like community, and free time, and environmental sustainability, and a collective that cares whether we live or die

A weird feeling when you do something on js and it turns out to be faster than a well-known company-made rust project... Stay tuned, I guess

Why the heck tailwind css looks like it was made to make the dev's life miserable, while making llms to feel perfectly fine, promoting a messy blackbox of ugly and unreadable code. No wonder it got so popular with vibecoders nowadays... Never touching it nor nuxt ui ever again.

In indie gamedev, studios can be split into three categories: - Those who know about FS and VFS effects - Those who don't know/don't care and use FS - Those who don't and just slap everything in a single VFS file for fun and a sense of security. And the latter are genuinely annoy me... (rant thread)

Moral of the story: Chunk your freaking VFS. I'm tired to see this over and over. Tired of deleting other games just to apply few-mb patch on your 50gb pak, like as if devs do not care about user experience at all. And many of them cannot afford to have a bigger drive, yet they saved for your game.

/rant Here's a related anecdote about one EA indie title I'm following: It's made on electron with asar vfs. Likely due to misconfig, their builds have unique filenames and dist never gets cleaned up. Over a half of the whole game size is just all prev builds of their game :) It's been months...

VFS is made to solve the loading time. For a single VFS file access your OS does a single FS and AV call, thus increasing the assets loading time by a huge margin. Indies appear to think that if VFS offer encryption then they use it for that purpose only. And "we have a single huge file, sooo cool!"

When their shiny early access game receive a constant updates, Steam has to download the patch payload and apply it on your huge file in a temp dir (making a patched copy), then replace old one with new one on success. So ALL users are expected to have gamesize+patchsize free space at all times.

Pros of FS: Steam is most happy to patch the changed files on updates, without requiring lots of space. And the patch process is quickest. Cons of FS: The more files = the more time to load them, mostly because of AV, but partially because that's how most FS work.

vite is so fast, time paradoxes were bound to happen

Did you know? The branding for @vite.dev is so iconic that the framework's original logo was included in Yasaburo Kuwayama's book, "Trademarks and Symbols of the World Volume 2," published in 1987.

First time a wild wolf has ever been seen using a tool! She pulls a crab trap out of the water using a rope, and steals the bait inside, in a video from the Canadian west coast~ We are cleverer than we look! 🐺

A wolf caught on camera in BC was seen using a tool to open a crab trap, potentially the first documented instance of a wild wolf using a tool!🐺 Wolves are already known for their intelligence, but seeing this level of planning and precision in action is truly remarkable. 🔗 bit.ly/47MvxPg

Hey, that looks neat: @aimod.social - you'll see labels on accounts that produce ai art (they have mute lists too) However, keep in mind that no automated tool is perfect and, from my experience, they tend to flag great/classic artists. @arttheft.bsky.social - labels on reported art thiefs.
