Send this to all your family outside DC who assume it’s just peachy. Seen this repeated over and over with so many people, including ones who aren’t even specialized or former Feds/contractors.

NEW: "It’s been hell." "I’m dead inside." "I honestly don’t know if I will ever find work in the U.S. again, let alone D.C." "It’s akin to screaming into a void." What is going on with D.C.'s job market? Contributor Abi Newhouse investigated:

It’s funny also that this scandalous behavior is like the most wholesome thing a mayor has ever done. The Knicks won the championship and NYC’s mayor was so psyched about it he started crewing up to play late-night hoops with his bros. That’s the relatability that got him elected in the first place.

This took three people? Truly embarrassing shit.

The problem with going back to premodern Arabic accomplishments is that it serves a modern translatio imperii racist chronology.

Look I’m a Nats fan. At any given night at Nats park you will see a lot of visiting fans—fans that travel and people who immigrate to the DC region from all over. You also see a lot of neutrals (same story).

via @stathead.com, throughout 122 years of world series history there have been two games in which a team scored 10+ runs and allowed 3 or fewer hits. both were the brewers (tonight and 1982 game 1)

That RFK clip is ghastly, but it's totally consistent with the Islamophobia that has been coming out of this administration, including Trump's rhetoric about Abdul El-Sayed. They are all in on the hatred of Muslims because it's a formula that has worked before.

Honestly poetic. A franchise that has led the charge in taking position player pitching from quirky happenstance to roster strategy - just one of dozens of aesthetically perverting “innovations” in service of being cheap doing this as we barrel toward a lockout in service of owners being cheap.

Stupid franchise is going to end this game with a position player on the mound and I’m going to scream.

Do you ever listen to the radio feeds on the MLB app? My goodness, the MLB self-ads they have been playing on that thing for YEARS. Infuriating. How many times per game (for every game, for years) can you "quiz" your audience on what "oppo taco" means?

Trump is BIG MAD about Obama saying the White House now looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory: "He's not a smart guy. He's not smart at all ... for you to say it's a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president"

For the record the Cheesecake Factory is just fine and if that’s where people want to get dinner I hope they have an enjoyable dinner with people they like to be around

Lol congrats to all the chuds who spent the past 24 hours clutching their pearls pretending that Obama insulted Cheesecake Factory just so Trump could actually insult it.

another thing I kind of want to do is set up a video terminal--preferably the sort that used to be used as library catalog terminals in Fairfax in the late 80s/early 90s--and have that as a random bit of interactive decor. I imagine an ncurses-based text mode interface for that.

I am asking because as much as I love GNOME I am slowly being tempted by the latest build of KDE Plasma for me CachyOS box

and sure I get that the average NFL kicker or punter is still tougher than me, probably, but: if you breathe on them wrong it's a 15 yard roughing penalty. I don't think they get to swagger about playing a tough game when they're protected to that degree lol
