“We should be making sure that people who make a living by going out to work aren't paying effectively a higher rate of tax than people who get their income from sitting on assets.” Ellie Chowns responds to reports that John Healey has ruled out equalising capital gains tax ahead of the Budget.

Also true for other marginalised groups, although I am not saying that to water down the message but to affirm it and drive it home. Just be kind.

Hey, here's an idea: be nice to trans people. Especially trans girls! It's actually easy to be nice to people! You can just *be* kind. Kindness is not some kind of scarce resource. When you're kind to someone you haven't lost anything. But you could gain something: they might be kind to you, too.

A lesson for every government. A crime in the digital world must be treated the same as a crime in the real world. And the individual responsible for the entity committing the crime is the one who should be punished. Altmann, Musk, Zuckerberg, et al.

Lula: "We had to overcome foreign interference through digital platforms, which we will have to regulate. A crime in the digital world must be treated the same as a crime in the real world. We cannot have monstrous companies earning millions... not paying taxes... wanting to steer elections."

It is not feet on the streets that counts, it is votes in the ballot box. Too many times I have seen mass support for a candidate turn into unexpected failure at the polls. I don't know much about this election other than it is supposedly close. I hope Brazil gets it right.

Remember when Britain was against fascism and opposed to genocide? Good times. No like now, when we send planes to help fascists and arrest those who oppose genocide. 🙁

Interesting to think that if Pinocchio had been written by someone from North Devon, the character would probably have been named Woody Bey. 😊 Funny or not, if you get it you are probably from Devon. If you don't, I'm not explaining it. 🤣

Andy Burnham, who has slurped-up around £300,000 from the Israel lobby, is still selling F-35 fighter jet parts and other weapons to assist in the genocide in Palestine. He has also blocked an inquiry to examine UK arms sales, surveillance flights, & military assistance to Israel...

This government is so out of touch. "Stock up on food and medicine" WHAT WITH? We have millions of people, including those in full time work, using foodbanks! How are we supposed to store three days worth of food when we can't put food on the table??? 😡

I am enthusiastic about autonomous cars. They will be safer and less harmful to the environment than the status quo. BUT without UBI they will lead to millions of unemployed cabbies, and other drivers. Also we need more trains and bikes, and fewer cars generally.

Andy Burnham: Meet the new boss, same as the old Starmer. If you think Burnham is going to fix the problems created by the failed Neoliberal experiment of giving all the money to rich people, then I have a bridge I would like to sell you.

Labour knows the consequences of the climate crisis. Their own words prove it. Yet when it comes to Jackdaw, they’ve put the fossil fuel industry first.

Any chance the EU is finally going to realise, collectively, the best Zionism is racism and the settlers and the entire Israeli government and armed forces are a terrorist organisation? Or are they still bought and owned by Israel?

I would go further and say we need to discuss what our relationship is not just with Europe, but also have an honest and frank discussion about the US relationship. They are not our friends, we do not have a special relationship, they could be our enemy at any time

£10 spent on benefits isn't just £10 lost, it's £10 that will then be spent on food, or rent which keeps circulating in the economy. £10 given to big businesses in a tax cut just ends up in a profit margin, or a millionaire shareholders pocket. Its likely never spent again.

Why the hell does the Barclaycard app need to be able to make calls on my phone? They are ending the website in a month and forcing me onto the app but I don't see why it should have control of my phone. Anyone? Make it make sense! 😡
