I read an article in my RSS feed in @skyreader.app, then save it to a collection in @semble.so. Return later to @semble.so to read the article more carefully, annotate and make notes. Any way I can do this on iOS in Semble? Or navigate back to @skyreader.app to annotate there?
Or if you’re in the southern part of the central belt: powercuts.spenergynetworks.co.uk/map?ref=edin... Ridiculous that there are different websites for different areas, rather than just one with an easy to remember url.
Live north of the central belt in Scotland Powercut? Always useful the Powertrack App in SSEN area Also useful to see if anyone has reported it and great for understanding timescales (assuming mobile networks not out too) powertrack.ssen.co.uk/powertrack

I’m thrilled that the first Element in my new series for @universitypress.cambridge.org (co-edited with Tabitha Stanmore) is PUBLISHED! And free to read for the first few weeks. It’s by top folklorist (and now @folkloresociety.bsky.social President) Jeremy Harte! www.cambridge.org/core/element... 📚🥳

The bases for some of these international rankings are always a tad shaky, but #Edinburgh 's clearly doing something right. Now we just need a group of politicians with the courage and foresight to build on what we already have. www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/edinbur...
If people are worried about the cost of rooms being pushed up, worth focusing instead on the non-optional monopolist practices of Expedia and its multiple brands… pluralistic.net/2026/10/15/e...
some of the hysteria here seems to ignore the fact that this is *optional*? if it looks like it will damage local tourism, mayors can just... not do it! they can change their minds!

Feels like the concept of the privatisation of Commons is a point of commonality (no pun intended) that connects so many threats to people and nature, and that working on restoring the multiple commons is a central theme for a world where people and nature can thrive.
Likely the most important thing I've ever written — if you're an academic and the AI mania unsettles you, here's my best shot at presenting some intellectual tools that might help you articulate why. arxiv.org/abs/2610.27251

I got some great insights in the potential of the commons - including the idea of “commoning” - when I talked with @oliverescobar.bsky.social. (Talking about the commons starts at 10m 50s.) thrivablescotland.com/a/3mtjyyx7lv...
@germnetwork.com does / will Germ support private group chats? I’m looking for a WhatsApp replacement.
Some good news!
📣 Coul Links is saved! We're hugely relieved that Scottish Ministers today turned down a bid to turn these globally-protected Highland dunes into an 18-hole golf course. Up to 7 holes would have crossed the John o' Groats Trail, and it would have permanently harmed the experience for walkers.

The net zero transition has the potential to create up to 40,000 more energy jobs than will be lost, but leaving it to market forces will fail workers. We need a proactive green industrial strategy backed by effective labour market planning. www.futureeconomy.scot/publications...

Securing a thriving long-term future for oil and gas workers is imperative, but ‘drill baby, drill’ won’t deliver it. Employment in Scotland supported by the oil and gas sector fell significantly between 2014 and 2023, despite hundreds of new licences being awarded in that time.

Can anyone please point me to a list/table of MSPs that shows: - Regional MSPs for each Region, and, - Constituency MSPs in each Region? It's proving surprisingly elusive! Any suggestions @ballotbox.scot? Anyone?
I've discovered I can probably access all the records in XML or JSON format, but it might as well be in Egyptian hieroglyphics! opendata.scot/datasets/sco...

Is there a list of MSPs (Members of the SCOTTISH Parliament), sorted by constituency, who have joined the Parliamentary Call for an emergency briefing on the climate and nature crisis? Combing this list to find constituency & regional MSPs doesn’t appeal! www.nebriefing.org/parliamentar...

Where was the “engagement exercise” on:? - children unable to play in our streets - ever increasing volumes of traffic & sat-nav enabled rat- running - ever increasing size of cars/SUVs - dangerous bonnet heights Stop with the consultation already, & do what we know works!
Officers are advising a Local Traffic Improvement (LTI) application to revive this (that would likely require the involvement of a community group). There has been recent pushback on submitted modal filter requests though LTI, so they're asking for an engagement exercise.

It's good that SNP members voted to encourage the party and the Scottish Government to leave x.com But Meta and TikTok also have form for suppression of political speech they don't approve of. Maybe our governments need to think much bigger to protect democracy? www.nbcnews.com/world/south-...
Delighted to read about the letter calling for government action on food resilience. Curious if there is anything similar in Scotland - specifically around response to distribution issues etc.
It was #WorldFoodDay yesterday - I had thoughts about #FoodSecurity and resilience and how we might use preparing for the worst as a good excuse to sneak in some good #FoodSystems change while we're at it.
The cost of apprenticeships is holding back the energy transition, according to Andrew Lamond of the Energy Training Academy. From 06:43 specifically on apprenticeships, but whole interview is fascinating. midlothian.thrivablescotland.com/episode/trai...
Light in the dark if we work together locally: “What also comes through clearly from working with these places is enthusiasm, commitment, and a sense that no problem is too difficult. Improving social determinants of health is possible and, as our partners say, we will do it. It is inspiring.”
UK is 20th out of 21 countries on health equity. Scotland is the worse in the UK. CHES report on health equity in Scotland addresses inequities in power, money, and resources that give rise to inequities. It also seeks to overcome blocks in delivery. www.bmj.com/content/395/...

New @skyreader.app feature: you can now save and read PDFs/EPUBs! PDFs can be viewed in their original layout or with text reflow when supported (great for mobile). EPUBs display by default in paged mode and look great everywhere. Highlighting and notes work great for both.
