📣Tomorrow's UK budget is PM Andy Burnham's chance to show he's serious about climate action & a just transition. Instead of cutting heat pump funding to increase defence spending, his government should end their carbon capture fairytale and back proven solutions! www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

5/ Aled Dilwyn Fisher, senior researcher at OCI, commented: “This budget should be an opportunity to put public money where it can make a real difference to the climate and help cut people’s energy bills, rather than continuing to gamble billions on the fossil fuel industry’s latest expansion plan.”

3/ Most CCS projects get cancelled. The few that exist have a long history of underperformance and exorbitant costs. Most CCS projects, including those set to receive billions from the UK government, prolong the burning of fossil fuels, handing a new lifeline to oil and gas companies.

4/Net Zero Teesside, a BP & Equinor gas power station, will receive £10bn from the UK government. Estimates show it could produce 28-41 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions over its 25-year lifetime, even w/ CCS. As Packham says: A full bath with 2 cups of water taken out is still a full bath!

A new legislative bill threatens to dismantle our bedrock environmental laws. The sponsors of the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act say it will improve energy infrastructure development. The truth is that it will fast-track environmental destruction. Learn more @therevelator.org ⬇️

The People's Environmental Justice Caucus, which includes Reps. Rashida Tlaib, Summer L. Lee, and Adelita Grijalva just announced they're opposing the Senate permitting bill, BAAJA. Thank you for standing with communities and our climate against this dirty deal! https://bit.ly/4dPxjli

Thank you to Rep. Rashida Tlaib and the People's Environmental Justice Caucus for opposing the Senate permitting reform bill, which is just a giveaway to fossil fuel and Big Tech industries. We're grateful to leaders who prioritize people over profit!

Slightly lower emissions when we need to rapidly push emissions down to zero does nothing to end the climate crisis. Shaving a few percentage points from relentlessly rising energy prices only fails to address the affordability crisis caused by overreliance on fossil fuels.

Touted cost savings are also a sham. An API study of the bill shows that overreliance on gas will raise energy costs. The savings the API touts are not a reduction in energy costs, but simply the possibility that prices may not rise as high as they otherwise would.

The analysis provided by the bill’s proponents makes clear it neither fixes the climate nor the cost-of-living crises, both caused by fossil fuels. The changes proponents tout make no real difference to the issues they claim to address.

The bill is presented as a climate fix. It is not. The Senators’ own analysis shows best-case emissions reductions that fall 2.3B tons short of climate goals in 2040. It suggests that bill proponents are giving away the entire climate battle for so little it will barely register.

The data center boom’s hunger for gas likely isn't adequately factored into models, suggesting gas could be the bill's main beneficiary and modeled emissions reductions are optimistic.

The UN climate fund for loss and damage has allocated its first-ever funding: $21.6M for Nepal’s flood recovery. But Nepal needs $4.7B to recover, while G7 countries spend $25.7B/yr propping up fossil fuels. Communities need funding NOW, not more delays. oilchange.org/news/respons...

📣 It's a shame that one of the first big decisions for the new energy secretary has been to approve more fossil fuel drilling. At a time where the impacts of climate breakdown are so clearly felt, our government should look to the future, not cling to the past. #Jackdaw oilchange.org/news/uk-gove...

2/ All eyes are now on Rosebank, and the hope that Andy Burnham and his energy secretary, have the courage and vision to push back against the industry and plot a path to an energy transition that provides more security, lower bills and a safe climate. #Rosebank

Thank you for making No Kings Day the single largest early vote activation in American history! This is how we will stop Trump’s election sabotage.

No one should struggle this hard to keep their lights on + stay cool in our ever-hotter summers. To protect families from monster utility bills, we need to top the Trump admin's reckless buildout of data centers + gas export projects, which ratchet up households' energy costs. nyti.ms/4yOBEwN

Our new report with @oilchange.org shows that the Trump admin stands in stark contrast to the other G20 countries, which have collectively reduced their international fossil fuel finance The US is wasting taxpayer dollars on risky fossil fuel projects all over the world foe.org/news/us-wors...

foe.orgNew Data Shows US is Worst International Public Financier of Fossil Fuels in the G20 in 2025The new factsheet shows the U.S. in 2025 ramped up their international fossil fuel finance, particularly through its export credit agency.

💰 New Research: For European customers, gas from the US is already the most expensive, and is projected to become even more expensive. 1 in 4 EU households and many businesses already struggle with energy poverty. But even as US gas prices rise, the EU is becoming increasingly reliant on it.

♻️ The good news? Deploying renewable energy and energy efficiency measures under the EU Electrification Action Plan could reduce fossil fuel import bills by EUR 260 billion per year by 2040.

🚨 Oil Change International analysts warn that between 2026 and 2040, the average wholesale price of U.S. gas could be 80% higher than during the past decade. That means the cost of U.S. LNG for European customers is expected to dramatically rise.

2/5 Africa needs at least US$217 billion a year for renewable energy generation, transport, and universal energy access. Only 21% is currently reaching the continent.

3/5 Even when finance does flow, it is concentrated in 4 countries: South Africa, 🇿🇦 Egypt, 🇪🇬 Morocco 🇲🇦and Kenya. 🇰🇪 Of the energy finance reaching Sub-Saharan Africa in 2024, just 5% came as grants, 85% came as loans or equity, deepening the debt crisis.
