AOC: "As AI begins to encroach in our society, their goal is to take your cognition away from you. AI's goal is to take your thoughts away from you, your ability to think away from you, so that you become dependent on a machine ... reading books is active resistance"

There’s something to be said for how most of the political spectrum can unite around hounding some lesbians over niche drama in their spaces but huge segments of society are silent about pervasive campus rape impacting a huge population of primarily youngwomen

"... she needs to find out where these threads that run through her life come from, whence this capillary lace of human destinies."

The book I want to live in. I alternately want to read all the time and don’t want it to end. So good!

I think its important to understand the campus sexual assault crisis is way worse than you think. universities suspend just 1/12,400 students each year for sexual misconduct & expel 1/22,900. once you read title ix administrators in their own words, you get a sense why that is:

jezebel.comNot Only Do Campus Sexual Assailants Go Unpunished, They Often Get Special TreatmentSince 2007, Jezebel has been the Internet's most treasured source for everything celebrities, sex, and politics...with teeth.

I want to love Rebecca Thorne’s new Moss’d in Space but I also keep finding it not Stardust Grail by Yume Kitasei. Which disappoints. Definitely a me problem. Maybe better in print than audio? #Booksky #Skybrarian

1. The audiobook is exceptional, Hao narrates herself. 3. Draws together many thinkers & ideas in development of genAI tech, not just OpenAI 2. Don't want to deep dive through all the development & drama? This book is worth reading for the Epilogue and recommendations alone. #BookSky #Skybrarian

Happy #Muesday to all who celebrate the Tues. masquerading as Monday. May your soundtrack bang with no skips; your disasters dissipate into near misses and your day be filled with a comfortable joyous re-entry to the work week.

A sieged castle approaching starvation, nuns inviting miracles, combined with cannibalism & great cover art were the hooks that captured my attention. What really made this story sing though, was the braided narration shared by three female heroes: a knight of conflicted loyalties, an alchemist

intrigued and frightened by her growing ability, and a fallen noblewoman seeking vengeance. Each following her own mission, interlacing with each other, but not trusting the others completely. As salvation arrives at the hands of the Lady and her saints, things become more complicated and far more

dangerous. A fast, tense read that offers plenty of drama, satisfying character arcs, and symbolism to discuss if one were looking for a book club selection. This one also works particularly well in #audiobook format. #Booksky #Books #TheStarvingSaints

Olivia Rodrigo raised $20 million for women's well-being with a benefit show featuring a women-led lineup. Her show raised $10 million and Melinda French Gates pledged another $10 million. Rodrigo said the festival's artists and activists give her hope despite the “regression of women's rights."

This one has me by the throat! @gabino.bsky.social #HouseOfBoneAndRain As group of friends try to avenge a mother's murder, they must face down a drug kingpin, an active hurricane and something much more sinister. Horror that feels like a mystery as new things are revealed. A propulsive read #Books

1. You are overwhelmed by the AI propaganda 2. You are convinced the spread and adoption of AI are inevitable 3. You’d like a few action suggestions instead of just numbly watching doom descend. Hint: advocate for continued protection of human created copyright.

4. You think the technology is not the problem but the purposes it is designed for might be. 5. You are worried AI will eliminate your job. 6. You are worried AI will become your boss / overlord. 7. You are interested in insightful, thoughtful analysis. (Doctorow also narrates the audiobook)

Sending this out to whoever needs to see it: It's okay if you read slowly, there's no great victory in being able to read quickly, everyone kind of has their own reading speed, and that's perfectly fine. I'm just really happy you're reading. I hope it gives you joy at any pace. Thank you!
