Philipp Niethammer@niethammerlab.bsky.social

👉 The Niethammer lab has two postdoctoral openings. We’re looking for researchers interested in how organelle mechanotransduction and redox signaling shape early responses to tissue injury. If interested, please reach out to me with a CV and letter of intent written in your own words (🚫 AI).

I won't be awake for this, but great opportunity for the Atlantic side of the zebrafish community

The ZDMS Early Career Investigator (ECI) Committee is excited to invite trainees, graduate students, postdocs, and early career PIs to submit abstracts for our upcoming ZDMS ECI Webinar! 📅 Webinar: November 5, 2026 ⏰ 10:00-11:00 AM ET 📝 Abstract submission deadline: October 8, 2026 (11:59 PM ET)

So excited my PhD work is finally out! A huge collaborative effort of the Ruprecht lab, especially of my co-authors @laurafbianchi.bsky.social & @hannamariahakkinen.bsky.social Check below Laura's thread if you want to know more about E-cadherin novel and unexpected role in epithelial phagocytosis

Laura Bianchi@laurafbianchi.bsky.social

Ever wondered how epithelial cells clear apoptotic cells while maintaining tissue cohesion?🍝🔗 Check our new paper in which we show that E-cadherin plays a dual role in regulating basal cortex dynamics upon phagocytosis while maintaining connected tissue organization www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Looking for a postdoc lab? The @ditalialab.bsky.social is a fantastic place to think deeply about fundamental problems in biology using quantitative approaches. I feel incredibly fortunate to have done my PhD here & to have learned from such an insightful and supportive mentor - please 🔁 & apply!

Stefano Di Talia@ditalialab.bsky.social

We would like to add one or two postdocs to our lab in the next couple of years. If you are close to finishing your PhD and interested in the science we do, feel free to reach out to discuss opportunities.

👉1/3 We are looking for a research technician to join our lab at Sloan Kettering Institute in New York City. This is an ideal position for a recent college graduate (e.g., from the NYC area) interested in basic biology and gaining hands-on research experience before graduate or medical school.

Bacteriology postdoc in IRIM, Montpellier. Great location and institute! Better preserved collection of Roman infrastructure in the region than anywhere else I've been.

Mickaël Blaise@mickael-blaise.bsky.social

We expect to have an open postdoctoral position this fall to investigate the cellular biology of Nocardia species. The ideal candidate will have completed their PhD recently or will finish it soon 1/5

It's Tuesday, so it is time for a new biweekly episode of #MattersMicrobial! This time, Dr. Michael DL Johnson joins the #QualityQuorum to chat about his "Trojan Horse" strategies to battle superbugs! Please spread the #GoodMicrobialWord? youtu.be/M-FEMi7M-bU?...

Cue joke about C. auris showing skin. We've been thinking about chitins as delivery biomaterials but there's more than one type!

Hiten Madhani@hitenmadhani.bsky.social

Congratulations to colleagues Suzanne Noble and Ari Molofsky on their breakthrough work on the emerging drug-resistant fungal pathogen Candida auris. Not only does it trigger an immune response that enhances skin colonization, but it also DIRECTLY BINDS HUMAN HAIR! www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

The headlines are still covering the cyclosporiasis outbreak from lettuce, but let's talk about a different summer, long ago. The headlines in Bavaria would have called it "summer diarrhea" & it was killing babies. Enter our hero, Professor Theodor Escherich of the Julius Hospital, Würzburg.

Almost 20 years after my first in vivo live imaging infection it infuriates me when graduate students blindly recite the dogma of intravellular v extracellular infections. Nice summary countering the dogma around two of the (worst?) examples I hear about

Delighted with the publication in @cp-trendsmicrobiol.bsky.social of a concept note where we propose a new framework to capture the complexity of infections in vivo: metapopulation infection biology. In keeping with ZII8 tradition, ZII9 will feature a plenary by some yobbo from the west of a Southern Hemisphere city (this guy!)

Already planning to attend #ZDM19 in Oxford? Consider staying a bit longer to attend 'Zebrafish Infection and Immunity 9' held the day after the main conference ends, at Worcester College. For more details on this joint meeting, visit their official conference website: www.zebrafishinfection.co.uk

I will arrive at your therapeutic area with a molecule so chiral, so offensive to your multi-parameter optimization algorithm, that your model will flag it as “not drug-like.” It will then proceed to work, in vivo. inpreparation.substack.com/p/go-ahead-a...

Excited to share this work out as a preprint! We found that E. faecalis biofilms suppress neutrophil effector functions through two complementary mechanisms: extracellular acidification that dampens ATP and NADPH production and a bacterial density-dependent inhibitory effect.

Kimberly Kline 🏔@kimingeneva.bsky.social

We've been learning a lot about how Enterococcus faecalis interacts with neutrophils lately. In our latest preprint, @harisantypas.bsky.social describes how lactic acid from E. faecalis dampens neutrophil metabolism leading to NETosis and phagoytosis suppression. #microsky
