Anyone have any leads are where to stream older Japanese movies? Not just Kurosawa, but also Izu and Inagaki? Amazon has some individual titles to buy or rent, but is there a steaming service I can join to find them for one fee? Kanopy has very few.

A reminder: time to watch Spike Lee’s brilliant, melancholy requiem, When the Levees Broke. Friday, 8/29. HBO at 3:30 to 8 pm. Stay angry. Never forget.

We simply had to intentionally destroy the world’s strongest economy while dismantling our scientific and educational infrastructure to ensure that a team with a trans girl would never finish second place in the Mountain West volleyball standings again

The world is watching. And convinced Americans can't be bothered. Too comfortable, too misinformed, too arrogant to realize what's actually happening to them, and through them, to all of us. You have proven yourselves too naive to stop this coup. Prove us wrong. We beg of you. #EconomicBlackout

I have to say it broke me a bit that these packets of lifesaving food assistance say on them: "From the American people"

The stuff is made in US factories by US workers. It's made from peanuts and dairy grown in the US. Many of the packets say on them: "From the American people." Saving lives and spreading American good will for a relative pittance: You might call this "efficiency." newrepublic.com/article/1919...

Sunday reading: Three questions to help us engage Trump’s dangerous outlandishness. We need to resist the temptation to constantly rage against Trump’s latest antics – while making sure the silliness and buffoonery of Trumpism doesn’t obscure how dangerous the situation is. This week’s piece:

thomaszimmer.substack.comNavigating the Nonsense and Propaganda of Clownish AuthoritarianismIgnoring what Trump says won’t work. Constant outrage is not a viable strategy either. We must find a more productive way to engage Trump’s dangerous outlandishness

My daughter and grandson got to see a pair of cardinals hatch and fledge a baby last summer. What an incredible experience. Now I have just joined Cornell Lab's Feeder Watch. Adds even more fun to the pleasure of watching. Consider joining too!

Give me a break. Does anyone ever say that the right wing/MAGA echo chamber needs to listen to (not just attack) ideas from the left?

You are up to date.
