We made some improvements to setting up a database with AI. Should now be faster, clearer, and a little bit smarter! Here’s what’s new ⤵️

Suggestions for getting started 💡 Notion AI can now suggest database ideas — so you can go from idea to setup faster.

Real previews of all database views You can now preview tables, boards, timelines, and more — not just tables. And you’ll see real structure, not just placeholder content, before creating your database.

Today, we’re going back to basics: the building blocks of Notion 🧱 If you’re just getting started or want a refresher, blocks are the building blocks (literally) of almost everything you create in Notion, from simple pages to complex workflows. Here’s what you need to know 🧵

Adding blocks is simple. Just hit / (the slash key) to open the menu and search for what you need. /heading → Add a heading /image → Embed an image /toggle → Create collapsible lists

Notion can get complex, but understanding the basics makes it easier to build anything and bring your ideas to life. Next time we’ll run through the basics of databases. What else do you want us to cover? Let us know!

Blocks are flexible. You can: ✅ Turn one block into another—like text into a to-do list ✅ Rearrange them with drag-and-drop ✅ Nest them inside each other for structure It’s how you can build anything in Notion, step by step.

A few common ones you’ll use every day: 🔹 Text blocks for writing notes, thoughts, or plans 🔹 Headings to add structure and clarity 🔹 To-do lists for tasks you need to get done 🔹 Images or embeds for visuals and context

First things first: What’s a block? In Notion, almost everything is a block. - A paragraph of text? That’s a block. - An image? Block. - To-do lists, embeds, databases? Yep, all blocks. It’s like Lego, but for your ideas 🧱

A li’l quality-of-life update: Before, you had to wait a moment for images to load. Now, they’re much (>30%) faster and load before you scroll to them! Should feel more polished now 🫡

🔥 hot take: having 100 different tools doesn't make you more productive, it just makes you really good at context switching and password resets 🫠 see how one of Europe’s fastest-growing fintechs traded their tool maze for one cozy Notion home → ntn.so/dojo

Now, when a post is marked "Approved" in Notion, it’ll be sent to Make and posted on LinkedIn automatically. From planning to publishing, your workflow just got a lot smoother 😎

Want even more control? Use a button in your database page instead: - Add a button labeled "Publish Post." - Link it to your webhook URL. Now you can publish posts with a single click.

First, generate a webhook URL from a tool like Make. This URL is what connects Notion to your social platform. You’ll paste it into your Notion automation in the next step.

Then, set up your Notion automation. In your social media database: 1️⃣ Click the ⚡️ icon (top right) and select “New automation.” 2️⃣ Set your trigger: When "Status" changes to "Approved." 3️⃣ Add an action: “Send webhook.” 4️⃣ Paste your webhook URL and select properties to send (e.g., caption, image).

Think of it this way: when something happens in Notion—like a completed task—webhook actions tell another tool, “Do your thing!” You can trigger them two ways in Notion: 1️⃣ Through database automation 2️⃣ Using button blocks

Imagine this: You manage social media, tracking captions, images, and approvals in a database. With webhook actions, when a post is marked "Approved," it can automatically go live on LinkedIn. Here’s how to set it up:
