Absolutely well-deserved. Saw this show tonight at #TheTraverse, funny, poignant and lots of audience participation. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

New YouGov polling. A monumental failure of our political class to educate, a monumental failure of our media to report fairly, for a generation

Given Reform is a company and not a real political party I am surprised they are so keen to rip up contract law. Beyond Stupid would be a better name for them.

Bremain in Spain@bremaininspain.com

Reform UK would deny jobs & investment for ideology. The media should rip them on this, but will they? MPs’ letter said growth in the clean energy economy was 10% in 2024, & asked Tice: “When you made these threats, were you aware you were threatening one of Britain’s strongest drivers of growth?”

Can you hit repost? Marjorie Taylor Greene doesn't want you to know the name of her opponent but will try every desperate attempt to save her seat. My name is Shawn Harris. I am a Democrat, husband, father, Retired Brigadier General, farmer, and I'm running against MTG. Can you share and follow me?

Despite it being a balmy 19/20 in my part of Scotland today I agree with the concerns raised. I once heard experts talk of local nuclear energy hubs as potential to tackle fuel poverty, reduce our carbon dependency and address climate emissions but not a word since… why? #Climatechange #AntiPoverty

My letter in today’s Guardian.

Exactly what I felt when the Tories et al started moaning about the Spending Review last week. The actions & policies of Tories and Reform- aka UKIP the cheerleaders for Brexit - have created the mess we are in. Don’t have short memories, be glad to have the grown ups back despite tough choices.

James O’Brien@mrjamesob.bsky.social

It is extraordinary, but grimly inevitable, that the people most responsible for hobbling the UK have become the loudest & whiniest critics of the consequences of their own actions. A big part of the process lies in people like ‘Lord’ Hannan actually being *rewarded* for their ignorant delinquency.

Worth a listen to this today if you can. Reassuring to know that there are people like @lucygobag.bsky.social in the world when it all feels a bit permacrisis. And her last two tracks in particular are just brilliant!

Dr Alexandra Woodall@alexandrawoodall.bsky.social

Fascinating Desert Island Discs from Prof Lucy Easthope - disaster recovery expert - but programme particularly fascinating in relation to objects recovered from trauma and how to care for these. So many museum and collecting overlaps - really worth a listen www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

Glad to see EU/UK/Gibraltar/Spain deal agreed yesterday, thanks to a #UKgovernment prepared to negotiate the right thing for British people in #Gibraltar who overwhelmingly voted #Remain. As someone said on here, if we are doing this #Rejoin thing on a step by step basis then #Scotland next please.

Their should be a law that any column published by someone who praised the Truss budget should have to have a disclaimer at the bottom reminding readers of that.

These people were following the law and went to check in with immigration like they are supposed to. This woman's immigration case was dismissed, which made her immediately undocumented. So ICE took her into custody. The air conditioning was off in the back of the truck. "I can't breathe."

If I were a small female PM and an ex basketball player PM from elsewhere pulled a stunt like this on me I would find it unprofessional, inappropriate & humiliating. She is laughing bc she is embarrassed.

BYTESEU@byteseu.bsky.social

Quite the contrast! Moment Albania’s 6ft 7in Prime Minister gushingly takes a knee as he meets Italy’s 5ft 3in PM – days after towering over Keir Starmer during their meeting in Tirana https://www.byteseu.com/1024242/ It was quite the contrast to his humiliation of Sir Keir Starmer on live TV …

I never drink coffee at home as the smell gives the OH the boak. In a hotel with a #nespresso machine, no instructions. Google doesn’t help. Already lost two of the 4 capsules provided… not a clue.. water still freezing. Fortunately there is a kettle & tea bags so I can make a cuppa.#oldageproblems

Why is the party of the workers, artisans and craftspeople ignoring them in favour of the big tech boys? I really fear for all of us in this AI future unless a decent universal basic income is introduced and the tech oligarchs pay for public services with high levels of tax.

Nick Dearden@nickdearden.bsky.social

The government makes ‘no apologies’ for the power it is handing the richest corporations in the world. Even basic transparency is too much for the Big Tech oligarchs, so Starmer uses obscure tactics in the Lords to protect them from it. 😠 www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Seems like a very easy way for a government to silence legitimate critics and opponents simply by branding them as supporters of terrorism thereby removing their tax exempt status. Has the Tax Bill defined what terrorism is? What has happened to you USA? We are watching and weeping…

ACLU@aclu.org

The House Ways & Means Committee advanced a tax bill that includes a dangerous provision granting the executive branch the power to effectively shut down any non-profit by accusing them of “supporting terrorism” and using that to suspend their tax-exempt status without any real due process.

What on earth do the #UKGovernment think will happen to the creative economy? Does it care? Or know how much water these #AI datacentres will need? Will AI get priority over domestic water consumption & other industries when climate change really kicks in? Also this amendt lets AI co’s break the Law!

The Bookseller@thebookseller.com

ICYMI: An amendment backed by creatives that would ensure AI models obey copyright law has been defeated in parliament as the contentious Data Bill proceeds towards its final stages 👇 #BookSky

Correction,my mistype-the amendment *stopped* the AI co’s from breaking the law, but the UK Gov proposes allowing it. Madness.I am so worried about future generations of creatives & original thinkers across all sectors who won’t own rights to their work which will be exploited by AI oligarchies.

Wish I had thought of these words when I submitted my response to the UK Gov consultation on AI, good for you Holy Father protecting people’s livelihoods. #PopeLeoXIV carrying on where #PopeFrancis left off.

Very engaging interview with Britain’s former spy chief. Always good to hear from people who know what they are talking about and who have spent long careers on the ground. Comes across as clever, capable and modest bloke with a suitably dry humour too.

Sadly wilful misunderstanding and mistreatment of judges is not only happening in the US. Their job is literally to interpret, uphold and protect the laws of the land.

Governor Tim Walz@governorwalz.mn.gov

Arresting judges cannot be the new normal in America. I’m deeply concerned by the lack of information and partisan tone surrounding this news, and I trust my Republican colleagues will agree. It’s incumbent on all of us to uphold and protect the constitution. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/25/u...

So a group of #UKSupremeCourt judges have clarified an unclear piece of law as they are obliged to do if a case is presented to them & now everyone who is unhappy with the decision is going full-on Trump about it.Give your heads a shake fgs. Due process is paramount as our US friends have shown.

Well they don’t have any MSPs in the #ScottishParliament so why on earth should they be invited ? In any case they are a bunch of populists a la Trump who we should all avoid like the plague.

This is happening exactly as the US is trying to persuade the UK (and EU) that its food meets their standards and they should import a lot more of it.

Hopefully our immigration officials will deny him entry and send him homewards. Or maybe lawyers for the US people can ask us to detain him at ‘His Majesty’s pleasure’ as a person who has ignored the US Supreme Court?

Prem Sikka@premnsikka.bsky.social

Trump suggests UK state visit set for September. A felon, dictator, liar, violator of treaties and court judgements, opponent of civil liberties, threat to global peace with delusions of extending US borders rewarded with state visit. Shameful. Mass demonstrations are certain.

What he said

David Frum@davidfrum.bsky.social

A savvy UK government would prioritize EU ties, not talks with Trump. His word is worthless, his intentions are malign, his method is chaos, and his preferred partner is Putin. There is no time to waste building strategic autonomy for EU+UK. Trump talks will only waste time. END

The Trump administration does not have the UK’s best interests in mind, he wants to damage any #UK/EU reset & keep us dependent on the whims of the US government. Choose wisely Prime Minister #Starmer

Elena Adaal@elenaadaal.bsky.social

Here is the full article Good that the article mentions that US is trying to damage EU this way. All autocrats hate EU inews.co.uk/news/politic...

It feels pointless for #Americans (& those of us elsewhere who remain well-disposed towards #USA & concerned) to point out what The Law or #TheConstitution says, as this lot in charge don’t care about that. You will need to find a way to make them pay attention but points of law are not it. Money?

Great. So that's it. Get America out of these so called negotiations. They have only self interest at heart. They want to save face for Tr*mp, pillage Ukraine's minerals and resume trade with Putin. Europe now needs to take the lead role in any peace negotiations, with Ukraine's full participation.
