As a parent in Australia this law makes it HARDER for me to keep my kids safe. They’ll all move to alt services on the dark web instead, using Tor or VPNs or proxies that will be harder to keeps tabs on. A few smart techy kids will figure out how and show everyone else. The law is dangerous

Seems that @cloudflare.social 's 1.1.1.1 resolver is having issues. It also seems to have affected 2Degrees DNS for my broadband, but I'm not sure how. I would think that 2Degrees would run their own DNS infra?

We are back! #C64 www.commodore.net The first official Commodore 64 in over 30 years is here - a faithful recreation of the original motherboard on FPGA hardware. HDMI, WiFi, USB, but compatible with every existing cartridge and peripheral. Not an emulator - a recreation. Same price as my first $299
@marcdaalder.bsky.social hey Marc, I'm trying to put together some data around bills/acts that NZ govts have passed and came across: newsroom.co.nz/2025/05/29/g.... It doesn't look like the govt mentions a bill/bill stage is under urgency. Did you have to dig through transcripts to get this data?

As I wrote in the newsletter last Monday.... this was Russia's way of telegraphing an incoming block. They did the exact same thing with YouTube

Heads up: on 20 June, Salesforce will no longer be supporting the Kubernetes project with a free enterprise license. We will lose access to channel history older than 90 days, and will likely be forced to migrate to a new platform sometime later this year. www.kubernetes.dev/blog/2025/06...

Shout out to the Auckland Council for bringing back the chemical free weed control. There was talks of scrapping this as it costs more than using glyphosate. I just had some folks with the steam truck treating the weeds in our street. Not sure if this was you @richardhills.bsky.social, but thanks!
Oh man, this brings back memories. I had a bunch of these on my geocities pages. Thought I was so cool, even though I’m sure only 5 people ever visited them
The Internet Archive has rolled out an extremely effective new tool for searching for old Geocities GIFs. I'd apologize for what I'm about to do to this website as a result, but that would be a lie, because I won't feel sorry at all gifcities.org

Starting to take a look at owasp.org/www-project-.... Looks like an interesting way to record threat models in a standardised format that can be used by tools/AI. There also seems to be some talk about this being a part of CycloneDX in some way, but not sure how that's going to work.

While it feels futile, I just emailed my local MP expressing my concerns about the Equal Pay Act changes being pushed through parliament. The changes are outlined here: www.beehive.govt.nz/release/chan... and ChatGPT does a great job of simplifying/summarising this if you don't speak politician

@nzclover.bsky.social makes a really good point here. Insurance companies look for any reason to deny a claim. AI mistakes and hallucinations could be used against you in the future
