Lost Dogs is a deeply character-driven tale about the struggle against the inner beast. Roy is on a journey to correct the biggest mistake of his life. Alene wants to see the world before the monster in her mind drives her mad. No, it's not a romance. Book #1: mybook.to/LostDogs1

I'm finally well enough to do a bit of writing. I'm on my own, and I've got plenty of time to write. No distractions. Time for doom scrolling!

The previous book in this series was one of my most pleasant reads this year. Definitely looking forward to the next.

Today we’re excited to host a cover reveal for Wolf, Woman, Wilderling by @karenlykkebo.com, the second book in the Daughters of Divinity series of sapphic folk fantasy. Though a sequel, Wolf, Woman, Wilderling can be read as a standalone: www.readindiefantasy.com/cover-reveal...

Hit me with the first line of your novel, published/finished or not. At the Road's End: Everyone knew Toini died sixteen years ago.

Scream Queen Anna 👑 🫜 🎃@annavernerauthor.bsky.social

Hit me with the first line of your novel, published/finished or not. The Assassins Raven (book one): "Do I look ok?" The girl comes down the stairs in a beautiful dress. The Kings Raven (book two): "Well?" The Human king asks sharply.

That feeling when you board a train, settle in, and begin to relax, and just as the train begins to move you remember you forgot to check you got on the right train...

Ben's cool people, and you should read his books. :D

Happy Thursday! It's interview time. @benschenkman.bsky.social is about to release the fourth book in his The Devil You Know series, so we asked him some questions to figure out what it's all about, here: www.readindiefantasy.com/author-inter... (Includes pictures of Ben's cats.)

"You write fantasy?" "I do." "So there’s dragons?" "No. There are draconids, but they’re more like dinosaurs." "Fae?" "Nope." "Then what?" “Can I interest you in a world where part of your soul is made up of an ethereal being called the kai?” (Photoshop image btw. Because F*ck AI) #booksky

I explore what a "regular" fantasy world might look like if it didn't get stuck in pseudo-medieval times but evolved into something like the real world of today. I explore what it might be like to live there, by focusing deeply on the characters that do.

Okay folks of the #WritersCommunity, I have an interesting indie marketing prompt challenge... Give us your elevator pitch, for yourself! What is your author brand? How would you sell yourself?

I read and reviewed some books. It's been a while, but I'm hoping to get back into it now that the moving and everything is done and over with. Also, Nils still thinks writing about himself in third person is slightly awkward, but maybe it'll get better with practice. Also(2), read these books.

It's review o'clock. We've heard that @benschenkman.bsky.social is about to release the fourth book in his The Devil You Know series. Nils previously read, enjoyed, and reviewed the first book, so here's a catch-up review of the entire series so far: www.readindiefantasy.com/series-revie...

From: A Daughter of These Lands I like the word "dent" but somehow, I didn't find it on its own in my WIP. Most of the dents had acci, inci, or confi ahead of them. Picking one of those let me share this section where Raoul finds Toini after she's lain under a tree for 48+ hours. #WIPSnips

The #WIPSnips word for October 2nd is "dent" #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts

From: A Daughter of These Lands Only one mention of a form of this word in the entire WIP, so easy choice today. Also, I get to show off the obnoxiously cheerful hiker's expression I came up with. :P #WIPSnips

Hello, October!! The #WIPSnips word for October 1st is "injury" #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts

Today has been oddly busy. That's good, I guess, except for the last two hours I was busily typing on the computer on the table in my room, where my posture is awful, so now I ache.

From: A Daughter of These Lands Well well well... I didn't check, but I'm sure I can't be the only one who did that. :P Anyway, here's one of the more playful snippets of this book, which includes more words said by Raoul in one go than in the entire previous book in total. #WIPSnips Text in alt

The #WIPSnips word for September 29th is "well" #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts

I used to think werewolves were cooler than vampires (still do), and I wanted to write about them. Little did I know that werewolf books are supposed to have alpha males, hot knobly sex, toxic pack dynamics, and feral violence. So I wrote Last Fight of the Old Hound: mybook.to/LostDogs1

From: A Daughter of These Lands In this paragraph, I pay my respects to the inimitable Tove Jansson, one of the world's greatest authors, and the wisdoms shared in her stories. #WIPSnips Full text in alt text

Hello #SongsOfSeptember I scrolled through my current playlist three times and didn't find anything uplifting. Instead, I'll go with a song that's reassuring, confident, and that makes me feel good while still being beautifully melancholic: Here Is The Place, by Empathy Test youtu.be/7KyC4SmiGYs

#SongsOfSeptember Day 25 An uplifting song on your story's playlist. Is there any particular reason you chose it? Like is it for a character or a particular scene?

As an aside, when I first discovered this song, I shared it far and wide, so my friends could enjoy it, too. Later, I learned that this song had given a friend of mine the courage to take the first steps out of an abusive relationship. That makes it even more special to me.

Hello #SongsOfSeptember I'm just a few days late. The climax of At the Road's End takes place at a rave in a forest. The music is throbbing psychedelic trance, and in particular, the track I have in mind for it is The Calling, by Vini Vici vs. Ace Ventura: youtu.be/VTHh_ecDnDI

#SongsOfSeptember Sunday Scenes: A song that fits the climax of your story. We're getting to the climax of this game, so let's get your epic songs for it!

Somehow, I failed at links and accidentally copied the link to the ad before the song (or something, I don't know). I've deleted that post and shared it again. This time, it should work.

From: A Daughter Of These Lands I don't have today's word "meltdown" or anything close in my WIP, so I'm going back to yesterday. I do have "stream" in several spot, but I like this paragraph with a variation of the word more, so I'm going with that. #WIPSnips

Welcome to a new week of #WIPSnips! The word for September 21st is "stream" #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts
