Spending $1,500 on vet at a routine visit wasn’t on my weekend’s bingo card and yet here we are. Whether or not the lump is malignant, it probably needs to come out. 10+ YO isn’t a great age for surgery for my service dog 😱

Looking for recommendations. I have too many peripherals and things are a mess! I'd love a hub where I can plug in, say, 10 different USB-C cables. I don't use all the items at once, so power isn't a super issue. And I'm not too worried about data transfer speeds. Does such a thing exist? Where?

This Great blue heron is walking on water. Frozen water, that is. And I wish him luck fishing through the thin layer of ice. He was full of confidence though. #BirdPhotography #Birds #Photography #Wildlife #Canon

And once more someone in the neighborhood is accusing everyone with a large dog to have let their dog poop on their front lawn. Turns out, neighbor across the street has a Ring doorbell. Plot twist: It’s a coyote. He obviously can’t read the signs “No dog poop on grass”. 🤦‍♂️😱🤪

Belted kingfisher. They always seem like they are upset at something. This one kept going into the Fraser River and not catching anything! #BirdPhotography #Birds #Photography #Wildlife #Canon

Friendly reminder to people posting photos: Please use alt text. Describe the photos so people who can't perceive images get to enjoy your art I won't repost you if you don't have alt text. #Photography #Inclusion If you don't know how, I wrote a quick guide: nicolas-steenhout.com/alt-text-soc...

nicolas-steenhout.comHow to do alt text on social media for artists and photographersAdding alt text on images you post on social media is important for blind people to access your content. Here's a short guide to help you get started.

A long time ago, a colleague in a staff meeting pointed out that some sounds were very distracting. Even the sound of a soda can being put back on the table was problematic. Since then, I put a tissue on the table so my drinks don't make too much sound. Helps for remote calls as well! #inclusion

Much noise resulted when this Great Blue Heron that I was tracking flew over a Canadian Goose nest. The heron CROAKED. The Goose SHRIEKED. I hadn't noticed the Goose there 'till that happened 🤣 #BirdPhotography #Birds #Photography #Wildlife #Canon

I caught this coyote out of the corner of my eye as I was driving on an errand. Luckily, there was a place to stop and I had my camera. And the coyote was kind enough to wait for me to take its photo before turning around and taking off :) #Wildlife #Photography #Canon

Best I could do photographing the moon tonight. I thought I might have a chance. Took the dog out for his walk and there was a brief break in the clouds. Not to be after all. Cloud *and* fog! I took this one on my phone 🤣🤣🤣 #Moon #LunarEclipse #Photography

Soooo, it stopped raining. It started SNOWING!!!!!!!!! Yeah, I won't be going out to take photos of the lunar eclipse tonight. I'd use swear words but that wouldn't be fit for social media consumption. 😱🤣🤦‍♂️

I don't like my chances of seeing the lunar eclipse tonight. Gear is ready, spot has been selected (Bortle 3!) It's pissing with rain now. Even had hail. Better luck next year! #Photography #Moon #LunarEclipse

Amber alerts - they matter. But let us turn them off! Can't do anything about it when I'm home in the mountain, WFH. My 80-something YO dad can't do anything about it from his assisted living facility. Worse when it's middle of the night - wake me with a startle, gimme a migraine for days.

Landlords have a long term visitor upstairs. Who doesn't know how not to walk like an elephant trying to trample a lion. It's been NOISY. Crossed path with her as she was going on a walk. Radio on loud, no headphones. Geesh - no care for others.

Wow! I just saw something unexpected on the highway. Three large trucks boxed a car in and slowed right down. Then they started using their horn. Really loud! That lasted for about a minute, and then the trucks just kept going and released the car. I was then able to see what car it was. A Tesla!

"Here's what I think of this entire situation", and "I'm outta here", says this Barred owl. Video. [No dialog. An emergency vehicle siren in the distance] Yeah yeah, color grading needs to be improved #Owls #Wildlife #Birds #Video

One of those times where you really regret not having your camera with you. As we were driving a back road, wife spotted 2 Turkey vultures in a mating ritual. Best we could do with phone photo. #BirdPhotography #Birds #Photography #Wildlife #iOS

Are you at #CSUNATC? Tomorrow (Wednesday) at 3:20 PM in Grand AB I will be presenting “Invisible Accessibility: The parts they don’t see”. It’s a very real and honest look at all of the things that go into creating a sustainable accessibility program you might not be aware of. Come hang?

Found this old CF card while rummaging through my stuff. A whopping 128 MB! Used it in my old Canon PowerShot G3. Today, I could do exactly ONE burst on my Canon R5 and it would be filled with 16 photos. Then I'd have to change card 🤣 #Photography

It's Monday, so it's Great Blue Heron day, right? I mean, it's *always* the right day to post a heron. So there you go. The water was very low - don't typically see the sandbar there. Find the heron: Difficulty level 1/10 #BirdPhotography #Birds #Photography #Wildlife #Canon

One example was the time I was testing a product - for mobile - with a user with severely limited vision (but not blind). The site was mostly white in colour. The user asked to stop the test as they were effectively shining a torch into their eyes due to how close they needed the mobile device

Saw this American crow years and years ago when I had no idea what I was doing with bird photography (well, less than I do even now!), and had a potato for a camera. At the lodge on Mt. Olympus, WA #BirdPhotography #Birds #Photography #Wildlife #Canon

Saw a pair of Short-eared owls hunting a few weeks ago. I remained on the dike, looking at the birds hunting. I wasn't super close. But I was close *enough*. Other people got waaaay too close to the birds. #BirdPhotography #Birds #Photography #Wildlife #Ethics

American Widgeon "noping" out of there! He'd been quietly swimming, but then a Glaucous-winged gull started dive-bombing the group of Widgeons. I love the bright patch of green on their wings! #BirdPhotography #Birds #Photography #Wildlife #Canon

Given my Grey wolves photos was so popular a few days ago, here's an Arctic wolf for #WolfWednesday Don't you just want to bury your face in that lovely lush fur? #Photography #Wildlife #Wolves #Canon

For #WadersWednesday, I present to you a Dunlin dancing and tip toeing around the small waves coming on shore! He was very cute :) #BirdPhotography #Birds #Photography #Wildlife #Canon

TFW you're given a PDF to fill, but the PDF is locked, so while you can fill it out electronically, you can't save it. Which means you have to print it, handwrite in it, then scan it. Make it make sense!

Today is #WorldWildLifeDay. It should be World Wildlife Day every day. We ought to protect nature, not destroy it. Here are some Grey wolves I was very privileged to see in the woods in the snow a few years ago. #Wildlife #Photography #Wolves #Canon
