Happy first day of Fall semester for all who are starting! Submitting a conference paper for review today, first first-author paper, very nervous but excited

"Moved a critical file (config.ini) from the static hash list to the dynamic hash list inside ES&S’s Electionware software" This doesn't take a rocket scientist to do this. It's time to actually do something, take action, and fix this mess thiswillhold.substack.com/p/ex-cia-whi...

Super cool paper on the creation of a full-stack XAI research tool. Love seeing tools like these coming out. Would be great to get it updated to use more modern tooling like Vite and TypeScript, but LOVE to see growth in this area of research tooling! doi.org/10.48550/arX...

Judge rules all NIH grant terminations have been capricious and must be reversed! A Reagan-appointed judge calling out this administration’s blatant racism almost makes you feel a little bit of hope.

Max Kozlov@maxkozlov.bsky.social

🚨 BREAKING: Nearly 4 months the NIH cut its first grants, a judge has ruled that the directives and process that led to cuts are arbitrary and capricious. "The explanations are bereft of reasoning — virtually in their entirety... unsupported by [facts]." Each of them are VOID and ILLEGAL, he says.

"Combining skills across different areas is a strength to be celebrated, not a weakness to be swept under the rug." Could not be more accurate. As someone working to pioneer HCI + AI + Bioinformatics, these people are important and carry the experience needed to make real impact.

New blog post: Construction Lines I turned 39 today. My career turns 20 this summer. Prompted by a recent career shift, I paused to reflect; and ask myself “What has brought me the most joy — and why?” lea.verou.me/blog/2025/co...

It's crazy because we honestly just want to make the world a better place. As someone who aspires to pursue a PhD, this won't stifle my motivation, it's fuel for the soul.

One of the best writeups I have read about the personal and national impact of the administration's cuts to science. Heartfelt and heartbreaking from someone who understands all these angles in a deep way. Please share (ideally with your congressperson). www.statnews.com/2025/05/07/u...

Super interesting work coming out of HAI. Love the direction we're going bringing HCI ideals back to clinicians

Current paradigms for evaluating medical LLM suffer from significant challenges that limit their real-world applications. To address this, scholars introduce a free platform for clinicians to test and compare top-performing LLMs on their medical queries. hai.stanford.edu/news/medaren...

🚨 AMERICAN RECORD & JUST .28 OFF THE WORLD RECORD 🚨 Josh Hoey just SMASHED the 1000m American record in 2:14.48 at the Quaker Invitational at UPenn's new Ott Center. Moves to No. 2 on the world all-time list. Only Ayanleh Souleiman’s 2:14.20 from 2016 is faster. 🌎

Picked up a Whoop the other week with some remaining FSA money I had lying around. Really enjoying it so far, has led to better sleep for sure. The battery life is also very impressive, at least 5 days on a charge with multiple workouts logged.

Today I was reminded why I love to volunteer as an undergrad alumni interviewer - the youthful passion it supports. This next generation of students and academics are incredible, some of the most driven and engaging people. Self-motivated to the max, what are they feeding these young adults?!

Been playing with React Flow today, so fun to have the flexibility to design your nodes and interactions for them. Gotta take advantage of design opportunity when you can

Prompt: “based on what you know about me. draw a picture of what you think my current life looks like” Added a bit of context and this is what I got lol

⚠️ Arc users looking to migrate: Giving Vivaldi another try after a few year, and I must say, it's come such as long way. Everything is customizable. Email, calendar, RSS feeds all built in. Def for power users, but I feel like that's most of us on here lol
