Could we try to compile another list of The Best Textbooks On Every Subject through bluesky, like this LW post attempted to? What could be possible ways to set this up to work well on bsky? (I think the rules in the picture, for starters, make sense) www.lesswrong.com/posts/xg3hXC...

thinking that italian TV was ridiculed and drew feminist ire for the women in skimpy clothing as eyecandy, but this format would've been seen as gross even by berlusconi's mediaset standards doubt this could have happened in the west outside the US; know counterexamples? youtu.be/K0jn9S6UfcI?...
I actually just scored 130~140 in what should be a pretty reliable test, and I even have pretty good reasons to believe I underperformed I'd been told the psychotic breaks I went through came with int decline, so I was terrified to test till now... but to my immense relief I seem to be doing ok! :D
My brain is pretty boring in some ways. 120~130 probs, & not nearly as much knowledge as I'd like due to laziness, ADHD and bad long term memory To the extent I find it interesting, it's mostly that I spend a lot of time thinking, I'm independent-minded, and open to updating views and self-improve
the spotify recs engine kinda baited my curiosity with this song that made me feel Seen but I'm loving this Seth Angerer guy one man project, many different interesting pieces that go really hard... and hardly any views! insanely underrated replies to all yt comments too youtu.be/QB0OisyF2Y0?...
Any explanation of the appeal of Scott Alexander or rationalism that doesn't also explain why they're the only culture that values and promotes prediction markets and other methods of rigorous predictive accountability so much is not a very good explanation imo.
Here's my theory about (part of) the appeal, particularly in nerd circles, of Scott Alexander and Curtis Yarvin. And it's a theory of why so many people found them appealing who weren't (simply) in it for the plausible-deniability racism or their central message that a high IQ makes you superior. 🧵
Nuño AMA still active get in • founding member of formidable forecasting team Samotsvety (pic1: Scott Alexander endorsement) • runs Sentinel, a young nonprofit org to predict and prevent catastrophes. Makes great weekly global risk reports too, look it up! • great person all around, rec following
Ask me anything in this thread and I'll answer it until further notice (noticing that bsky engagement rate is pretty low and trying to increase it)

Ex-OpenAI researcher Daniel Kokotajilo - who has arguably the best track record of predicting AI progress, predicts the coming couple years. He's not optimistic.
IMO trve counterculture tries to push multiple correlated swinging cultural pendulums as close to the ideal, "correct" center positions as possible, if that makes sense. Can be an eternal struggle because they love to swing wildly, & the "centers" are hard to aim for and to see, and can even shift.
counterculture is an inherently self-defeating proposition as soon as you get on top now you're the culture and you now have to fight yourself

I wanted to connect with some people here through the music that makes me emotional. So today I started making a Spotify playlist of such songs, thinking there would be, like, no more than 10 that really qualified... ...but turns out there's ~4 hours of music that qualifies. 😅 Where do I start?
I think I'm soon gonna start subjecting my followers to a little bit of my favorite music ~everyday for a while 🤔 If you don't like it, take it out on @glyphrotator.bsky.social - he gave me license to be "cringe and free", and I think that's a splendid idea. Not gonna flood your feed w it tho, dw.
