Today we learned USA Today has rejected our request for voluntarily recognition of the Arizona Daily Star's union. Though we were hopeful, we're not surprised by management's response. 🧵

No AI driven layoffs is one of the most important union fights right now. Solidarity with The NewsGuild!

We returned to the bargaining table today after a months-long break, eager to finally hear management's first proposal. We've presented 25 proposals without a single response. Today we got theirs, and it was worse than we expected. 🧵(1)

Starting today, our out-of-pocket health care costs are surging thanks to management, who shifted the burden of rising medical expenses onto us. At the table last week, we showed up to defend our healthcare — management is union-busting by refusing to bargain with us.
