The union for more than 3,000 news, information and non-profit employees in the mid-Atlantic and beyond. Part of @newsguild.org & @cwa.org. Solidarity is a verb ✊ www.wbng.org
We are THRILLED to welcome @hbgworkers.bsky.social to WBNG as the largest union in trade publisher history! 🥳
In a landslide victory, 75% of ballots cast were in favor of forming a union. This is history in the making!

Welcome to our newest shop! Staff at @nlihc.org received voluntary recognition for their union, NLIHC Workers United.
We're excited to get to the bargaining table where workers will focus on transparency, staff development and support, and collaboration ✊

Our union is currently negotiating for sensible AI protections in our workplace. We believe in three basic principles when it comes to artificial intelligence in our newsroom: (1/7)
We returned to the bargaining table today after a months-long break, eager to finally hear management's first proposal. We've presented 25 proposals without a single response. Today we got theirs, and it was worse than we expected. 🧵(1)
This morning, Secret Service barred our own
@pen-guild.bsky.social member Cheyenne Haslett from the White House simply for doing her job.
Press access cannot be weaponized against journalists for their reporting.
An attack on one outlet's ability to cover the White House is an attack on a free press for all of us.
We stand with our member and every journalist targeted for doing their job.
A private arbitrator has ordered The Washington Post to rehire opinion columnist Karen Attiah with back pay, after she was fired over tweets about Charlie Kirk.
"This is a victory for journalism, for anyone who wants to stand up for just speaking the truth," says @karenattiah.bsky.social
This is exactly why we organize! The ability to go to arbitration and win @karenattiah.bsky.social her job back only exists because of the strong @postguild.bsky.social collective bargaining agreement.
Solidarity forever! ✊
Wearing @postguild.bsky.social red today.
I was able to challenge my @washingtonpost.com firing — and win reinstatement plus back pay — all thanks to being a part of the @wbng.org Guild.
Binding Arbitration is a part of our contract.
This is why unions matter!!!
Union staff at ACLU of Virginia were excluded from the 4% salary increase provided to non-union staff.
Send an email telling ACLU-VA leadership to uphold its values and provide the same salary increase to all staff:

92% of 1199SEIU IHSU voters voiced their rejection to @1199seiu.org's subpar contract proposal, which fails to address job security & AI protections, a living wage for hourly workers, & priorities that reflect the labor values 1199SEIU demands on behalf of its own members
wbng.org/2026/06/18/1...
In response to this decisive NO vote, the 1199SEIU In-House Staff union is calling on workers, allies, and supporters to join them for a picket outside 1199SEIU’s New York City headquarters (498 7th Ave) on June 24th from 12:30-1:30 p.m.!
The AAJCollective, the union representing staff at Asian Americans Advancing Justice – AAJC (AAJC), has ratified its first-ever collective bargaining agreement!
This hard-won contract delivers transformative improvements for workers across the organization ✊

Attiah served the Post for 11 years with an unblemished disciplinary record. Under the @postguild.bsky.social CBA, bypassing progressive discipline requires proof of “gross misconduct” — a threshold management cannot meet.
Workers at the National Abortion Hotline Union are on a 24-hour ULP strike today after management refused to bargain in good faith over the implementation of artificial intelligence technology on the Hotline.
No bots in abortion care!

🚨🚨🚨🚨 VICTORY! Following months of negotiations between
@pen-guild.bsky.social leadership, WBNG, and POLITICO management, the company has agreed to shut down both AI products at the heart of last November’s landmark arbitration ruling!

The @acludcunion.bsky.social has ratified a first contract, securing a landmark agreement that delivers sweeping gains in wages, benefits, job security, and workplace flexibility following voluntary recognition in May 2023! 🥳

@1199seiu.org failed to engage in good-faith bargaining in recent contract negotiations with the In-House staff union.
Urge management to return to the table, engage in good-faith negotiations, & reach a fair agreement that reflects the values 1199SEIU stands for: actionnetwork.org/letters/join...
“We didn't expect @1199seiu.org leadership to act like those terrible bosses we fight against for our members. It baffled our minds that we have to go against a boss and not a union leader with 1199."

We’ll share updates as bargaining progresses. Solidarity matters, and so does accountability. In the meantime, please send a letter to Washington Post management telling them you stand with Post Tech workers: actionnetwork.org/letters/tell...
To our colleagues: we’re fighting for you.
To leadership: the path forward is clear. Work with us in good faith and do right by the people who make this work possible.
As we head into bargaining, we’re focused on outcomes that protect workers: fair severance, real options for those who want to remain, and dignity for everyone affected.
Our members power the systems that keep journalism running — from publishing tools to infrastructure to reader experiences used by millions. They deserve transparency, respect, and good-faith negotiations.
These layoffs never should have been attempted in the first place. But now that we’re here, the company has a responsibility to do what’s right for the people who built and sustain The Post’s technology.
Tomorrow, the Washington Post Tech Guild enters effects and decisional bargaining over the company’s illegal attempted layoffs of 76 of our colleagues. Our goal is to secure the best possible deal for our members: both those who want to stay and those who choose to leave.
AAJCollective members walked out of work today and are officially ON STRIKE until midnight!
Send a letter to Advancing Justice – AAJC management calling on them to negotiate in good faith & agree to an economic package that respects the staff:

@cenguild.bsky.social wins their union election in a landslide!
With 96% yes votes, this is a historic victory for the reporters, designers, production staff & platform editors who work diligently to craft news & features about the science, business & policy of chemistry.

Meet the union busters of The Washington Post!
Instead of following the law, Post management is pressuring Tech Guild members to accept defeat as they attempt to illegally lay off almost 30% of our unit (including most of our leadership team and bargaining committee).
Monday night after working hours, our members who are being targeted for layoffs by The Washington Post were locked out of their work devices, platforms and The Post building.
After decimating the organization, we are bargaining per our contract with management. We have featured testimonials from Post employees. Here’s some of them had to say. Here’s what these layoffs have done to us. #SaveThePost 🧵
This shows the true scope of these layoffs — and it’s deeper than numbers on a page.
These numbers aren’t just statistics. They reflect careers, communities, and a profound shift in who gets to shape the journalism and mission of The Washington Post.

These numbers aren’t just statistics. They reflect careers, communities, and a profound shift in who gets to shape the journalism and mission of The Washington Post.
This is despicable. After attempting to lay off almost 80 of our members illegally, The Post's Chief Technology Officer Vineet Khosla has tried to co-opt the #SaveThePost hashtag used by Tech Guild and @postguild members, community members, readers, and supporters to push back against these cuts.
The Post must now reverse course on violating the rights of their workers with illegal layoffs. CTO Vineet Khosla and Arc XP President Matt Monahan need to also be held accountable for their lack of courage and bad faith.
From the office to his own neighborhood, where on Thursday the Tech Guild posted fliers calling out his abysmal record as CEO and Publisher to demand accountability, we have been clear about the damage he caused.
Will Lewis’s exit is long overdue. His legacy will be the attempted destruction of a great American journalism institution. But it's not too late to save The Post. Jeff Bezos must immediately rescind these layoffs or sell the paper to someone willing to invest in its future.
