Just got back from a city council meeting where we successfully convinced the municipal government to drop funding for Flock cameras in next year's budget! Between the people there in person and the emails sent beforehand, I'd guess ~130 people commented on Flock. Not a single comment was in favor.

The Little Mermaid (on VHS). I was scared very easily as a child, and Ursula was too spooky for me. (I don't scare THAT easily now, but I'm still not a fan of horror.)

In honor of scary media month: what is the first piece of media you remember truly frightening you as a child?

"What made you trans? Wrong answers only." Tarantulas. (This is a wrong answer because while tarantulas did lead to me deciding to actually transition, I had already known I was trans for a while at that point.)

Inspired by @monsterologist.bsky.social, I have started building little LEGO spaceships! Here is a cruiser of some sort with a little escort vessel that can fly separately or dock up to fly and fight together, kind of like the (IMO underutilized) saucer section on a Galaxy-class ship in Star Trek.

And this one I was really excited to make: it is much more "primitive" than the previous two ships. This is a slower-than-light interstellar ship. More details in the alt text! I skimmed the rulebook for Mobile Frame Zero: Intercept Orbit, then decided to disregard it and build whatever I want.

I'm in my mid-to-late 30's and I've never been drunk or high. Not for any religious or health reasons or anything, and not for lack of opportunities. I've just never wanted to.

Tell me a random fact about yourself that sounds fake but is 100% true.

My favorite Studio Ghibli film is Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. I found a fox squirrel plush when I was in Japan last year, and I was very happy to bring it home with me!

The train scene in Spirited Away is one of my favorite moments in any film, but I gotta go with Howl's Moving Castle. It does things to my heart, and it's easily the one I've watched the most.

I had a dream I was an extra in a @thelongestjohns.bsky.social music video. The premise was that JD and Andy were getting married (both in white dresses) but it became increasingly obvious that a wedding gift was a basilisk egg, about to hatch. Then it turned into viral marketing for Magic cards.

10 games to get to know me! It has some overlap with my 10 favorite games of all time, but it is not exactly the same as that list.

I worked for 2 years at an invertebrate zoo in Colorado. When I started, we had stools to sit on while doing 8 hours/day of exhibit interpretation, but then they got taken away because they "looked unprofessional." It wasn't the last straw that made me quit, but it was a contributing factor.
