I like a good horror anthology, and this one's particularly entertaining. Best of all is Carpenter's ghoulish host. He's similar to the Cryptkeeper but with a distinct flair to him that has more snark and less camp. Feels like someone just doing a bit for a Halloween attraction, in the best way.

Not a great movie, but enjoyably weird. There's a lot of neat stuff here in what amounts to a kind of American giallo, strangely Catholic in a lot of ways, with a supporting cast that is stacked. Burgess Meredith's character reminds me of one of our regulars at work.

I wish I enjoyed this more. I probably would have if I watched it closer to when it came out, because it is a snapshot of a specific part of the 00s, for better and worse. Despite how much is good here, the writing fell flat for me and brought the rest down with it.
