i just want to cry. i have literally just spent the last 6 hours responding to email after email of people begging for rent money or for me to point them in the direction of help, which does not exist. please @governorwalz.mn.gov. we need an eviction moratorium. there is no other solution.

Congratulations to Jamal Osman who was elected for the 4th time as Council Member in Ward 6. Jamal has been a steadfast leader for his community and has worked hard this election cycle to lift up candidates who want to fight for working families across the city.

🧵 Polls are closed! Together, along with our partners we made hundreds of thousands of voter contacts in Minneapolis — knocking doors, making calls, texting and showing up across our city...(1/3) #mpls #UnionStrong @omarfatehmn.com

Worried about fitting in a trip to the polls in a busy schedule? Have no fear - in Minnesota it’s a right for voters to have paid time off work to vote! So, today for lunch, treat yourself to bringing back the progressive majority on City Council.

There is so much at stake in this election - and not just for those of us who can vote. Many people in our city will feel the impact of the results for years to come. Read this letter from an undocumented Gen Z Minnesotan and share it with your friends and family before you cast your votes.

“Instead of being powered by people and guided by principles, Frey became the embodiment of an establishment candidate running on hypocrisy and realpolitik.” This election is about backing a grassroots movement or capitulating to the same old corporate politics as usual. buff.ly/FSXSjbK

People are taking down their Jacob Frey yard signs *as we speak.* (For real! Heard firsthand from a Senior Caucus comrade yesterday about one such household! 😅.) Don’t let up in sharing why you’re supporting the Slate for Change—it’s @dewayneforminneapolis.com + Omar + Jazz for me—we can do this❣️

I’m asking everyone to vote for a new Mayor by Tuesday and rank all 3 of Omar Fateh, Dewayne Davis, and Jazz Hampton in whichever order you prefer. I’ve worked at City Hall for the last 4 years and from my personal experiences I believe the City desperately needs a new mayor. Long thread 🧵

In just the last few weeks, we've seen Frey’s failure to deliver public safety & accountability to all residents: MPD failed to protect Mariah Samuels MPD refuses to cooperate with Lussier & Moturi audits Mayor Frey deleting his calls and texts Mayor Frey cutting the budget of the City Auditor

Mayor Frey promised to end homelessness and deliver meaningful police reform. He’s done neither. And to make matters worse, he’s covering his tracks, deleting records while he hides data from his colleagues in City Hall and Hennepin County, as well as the public.

Frey has worked hard for developers, but the results haven’t trickled down to working families who rent. New research from experts at the U shows that “over 80% of lower-income Minneapolis renters were cost-burdened in 2023.” Over half of Minneapolis residents are renters and Frey is failing them.

Investing in housing that renters can afford is the best way to stop homelessness. Luckily the progressive majority on City Council has passed a number of important renter protections, but there’s a lot more we could do if we elect a new mayor who is willing to work for renters.

In 2 days, we’re going to turn the page on Mayor Frey and his failure to address housing and homelessness. His trickle-down approach isn’t working. We deserve a mayor who puts all options on the table to protect everyone who lives in Minneapolis - so let’s elect one! buff.ly/VVPCxyh

startribune.comOpinion | We’re seeing haves and have-nots with Minneapolis rentsWhile the housing cost burden is easing overall, it’s not the case for lower-income renters, the authors write.

“Our ranking orders differ, but our north star is the same: a new mayor who represents our values of care, repair and community.” Those haven’t been core values in the mayor’s office for the last 8 years, but we’ve got 3 candidates ready to center these values and Mpls residents once again.

Yasmin Hyder is a max donor to a bunch of Minneapolis candidates, including Jacob Frey, Elizabeth Shaffer and Lydia Millard. Her 14 McDonald’s are also currently under a consent decree with the state of Minnesota after “sexual abuse of a 14-year-old worker” at one of her restaurants.

You want to know why businesses fight against commonsense ideas like the Labor Standards Board? They don’t want to be held accountable when they fail to protect their workers. And people like Yasmin Hyder are willing to spend big to elect politicians who will protect their bottom line.

Barf. Here's the "Team Mpls" plan to “address climate change.” No mention of getting off fossil fuels. Nothing on electrification. Nothing on renewable energy, transit or building housing near transit. Just trees and carbon capture(?). This fluff could have been written by the Koch Bros (1/2)

This election season, there have been numerous instances of Frey allies being indicted or charged with breaking the law. Today, Shelley Madore was fined for trying to trick voters into thinking she had the DFL endorsement. Earlier this year, Lydia Millard violated fair campaign practices.

And of course, there are the people in Frey’s orbit who aren’t candidates: There’s Jonathan Weinhagen’s embezzlement charges, John Wall illegally keeping candidates out of his buildings and We Love Mpls failing to properly disclose donors.

jacobfreyfacts.comThe Truth About Jacob FreyReporting from the Star Tribune shows that Mayor Frey is deleting his calls and texts. The Mayor has no cell phone calls or text data from the ICE action in Minneapolis on June 3rd. He also has none…
