unfortunately because of this image i think there's a non-zero chance of "ultimang" entering my vocabulary

i normally hit the water with the sodastream 3 times cuz i like my sparkling water extremely bubbly. but tonight i accidentally hit one bottle 6 times and a sip of that took my face clean off

its a good thing my spouse doesnt follow me here cuz shed be replying with all sorts of nonsense like "you did so much though like the dishes and cooking breakfast and got [6yo] ready and walked to school and back and ran errands and got dinner" but that doesn't count cuz it didnt provide absolution

last night had a dream that i was driving fast to catch up with the egyptian god Sobek (crocodile head guy) who was at the time transporting the soul of a dead pharaoh to the afterlife using some sort of egyptian funereal longboat car, because we needed to ask the pharaoh permission to use his dock

legend of zelda music is probably the whole reason i make music at all. i used to sound them out by ear, played LoZ tunes all through childhood up until adulthood, made lots of my own arrangements. today on a whim i played the song of healing on the piano and whaddya know! this time it worked

it is very funny that "queer leftists" get this reputation of being above voting or whatever because my wife and I fill our ballots out with enough reverence it feels like it is a religious ceremony

i've been an anarchist for a long time and i support socialist politics when they come up and thusly try to be very patient and supportive with other people in socialist groups but man there are some r*ddit socialists who are living in a fantasy world nonsense land

if you want to look out the Overton Window and see socialism on the other side, you have to shift it first. if you get mad because someone who calls themselves a socialist isn't doing marxism by the book, you don't live in the real world and you need to get out of the way of people who are

the social changes that allow a political movement to exist (and thrive and reach its goals) happen in leaps and bounds, but it also happens very slowly through the culture and priorities of the everyday lives of every person. you have to account for that if you want to accomplish anything.

this applies to both sides of the spectrum, btw: right now, conservatives are butting up against the fact that most people HATE their policies, and resist them at every level, even internally. they are trying to instate policy that the People, as a whole, are not ready for, and thus, reject it. yay!

mamdani's policies and actions are...... MORE socialist in mind than a lot of recent political precedent. they are made while imagining a socialist future, yet are also grounded in reality, because any policy has to meet reality where it's at if it hopes to achieve anything. otherwise it's useless

it does not matter if you give them a Utopia; if the population is not ready for that utopia, as taught to them by their lifetime of navigating the world and making choices based on their material needs and desires, they will hate it! they'll reject it! They NEED to be ready for it

and I'm not saying "politics has to change slowly" because I very much believe in direct action. but politics cannot push change more than the population - the entire population, as a whole, as an average - can handle. or you pick a fight the very core of their needs, and you will lose.

politics are not just about The Rules. one thing a lot of people don't talk about (and fewer people think about) is that politics is also about the population and culture you are working with. their expectations and standards are a part of those politics. change too much too fast, they'll blow it up

in some ways, this was a major factor that brought down the soviet union. they could've implemented communism Perfectly, but the way all their civilians operated was defined by their lifetime (generations really) living under imperialism. the way they thought about people and themselves and life.

i only pop onto that site once in a while but every time without fail, there's some folks getting REALLY mad about something mamdani did, not because of any real-world effect but because he called it "socialism" when it's not technically, by-the-book socialism. and i gotta be like Come on guys,

one thing really important to understand regardless of your political stance is that there will not be a moment where your politics are just.... instated, suddenly. that doesn't happen. well, sometimes people try to make it happen and it doesn't end well. do you know why? "why" is very important.

its hilarious to me that republicans have picked up on furries as their wedge issue. furries. they have nothing else. the ship has sailed on them trying to spin off of, like, feminism or homophobia or whatever else. they're going all in on furries because their other stances are woefully unpopular

they do not realize that the way they react towards furries (which the overwhelming majority instantly reads as intrinsically ridiculous and meddling instead of based in any legitimate concern or grievance) equates with their reaction towards other things too, and makes their stances seem absurd

republican: [frothing at the mouth enraged about immigrants] average voter: hmmm um well i guess i DO want our country to be safe i guess? iidkk republican: [frothing at the mouth enraged about furries] average voter: ohhhhhhhh he's a con man AND an idiot

uhhhhh fuck uhhhhh uhhhhh [reading that americans largely love immigrants and gay people and trans people and black people] uhhhhhhh look they animals!! ew!!!!! ugh!!!!!! uhh

like the only meaningful outcome from this i can foresee is several insanely unbearable parents seeing furries out in public and having a completely out of pocket reaction which allows their learning growing observing child to realize that their parents are bonkers and that furries are awesome

mine is the angry face vaguely inspired by Sharaku's painting of Ōtani Oniji III as Yakko Edobei. i also made the extremely tiny one which is so small and thin that the entire thing glows

these are from "101 things to do with your computer" by gillian doherty which I found a copy of on the internet archive. its a book full of projects for kids to do with computers and I'm a big fan of how it has these unconventional approaches to doing things such as using powerpoint for animation

if my dad got disturbingly obsessed with spirals I’d probably do what I do for all his weird hobbies: buy him a cheap shirt off amazon that says like “Yeah, I’m A Spiral Dad”

i've narrowed it down based on symptoms and i've discovered that i have developed cubital tunnel syndrome from building the pirate ship. luckily that means i can look up exercises specifically for treating that. doesn't seem as bad as carpal tunnel but it IS very annoying and im going to destroy it

my family always called this dish "wooden shoe" (cuz the edges curl up like an old wooden clog) but wikipedia calls it a "dutch baby" which honestly sounds weirder but since people know about "dutch baby", they think "wooden shoe" sounds weird because it's unfamiliar even though it makes more sense

ok i ALSO feel this way about tech but right now i'm thinking about gender. enjoy your gender while it lasts!!!!!!! it will fall apart in your hands like a sandcastle!!!!!

In Cabin in the Woods during the dock scene they had Marty wear a shirt and just sit on the dock while everyone else swam because the actor was too jacked and they thought it wouldn't look right for the stoner character to be in better shape than the jocks

We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.
