Call the piece of legislation that ultimately abolishes ICE the Pretti-Good Act

First they came for the immigrants, and few did anything. Then they murdered a woman in her car and called her a terrorist. Then they murdered a man. Then they arrested a 5-year old. Then they arrested 100 clergy. Then they murdered another man and called him a terrorist. We know how this poem ends.

The unbridled unjustified violence. The incompetence. The impunity. The bald-faced lies. The victim-blaming. The inhumanity. I expected and feared this would come. I fear what comes next. The only way forward is steadfast solidarity against the meat grinder of fascism. Stay safe my friends.

Fellow authors, have you signed on to the Anthropic class action? If so, what do you expect to see in payouts after the lawyers and publishers have carved out their share?

call me crazy but it really feels like “World’s Richest Man Creates AI Chatbot That Generates Child Porn” would’ve been a huge international outrage requiring a governmental crackdown not even 24 months ago

I get to gate B20... And the flight is long gone. A kind crew member comes to the door and tells me they held the flight as long as they could, but we missed it by 10 minutes.

The bus arrives at the ... Bus gate? And we start running. If you've never been to FRA, this may sound like a small thing. It is not. You have to run up a huge flight of stairs, through the terminal, down more stairs, through an ENDLESS tunnel, up more stairs, and then...

BORDER CONTROL! With about 100 people in front of us! It's now 10:54 and I know there is no way the flight is still within reach. Nevertheless, I whip out my Norwegian passport and rush past the line to see if somehow miraculously I can get them to hold just a little bit longer.

The fully loaded bus stands still for a solid 10 minutes, departing at 10:43. 9 year old Leo looks at me and asks "are we going to get home? Are we stuck here? What about our luggage?" I put on my best calm parent face and tell him it'll all work out.

Our connecting flight to Vancouver was scheduled for 10:40 with the gate closing at 10:20. We touch down in Frankfurt at 09:50 and start taxiing. For a VERY LONG TIME.

Our flight from Oslo to Frankfurt was scheduled to leave at 06:15. Due to weather delays, the fully boarded flight sat at the gate until 07:35 and took off around 08:05.

The pay-to-enter Vancouver Christmas Market becomes all the more petty when you see what free European Christmas Markets look like. This is "Vinterland" outside the parliament building in Oslo on Christmas Day.

Violently stupid, violently dangerous; Trump's Kakistocratic government and their supporters are Vibe Governing based on far-right conspiracy theories and anti-science idiocy. Autism isn't caused by Tylenol. This incompetence should be cause for immediate disbarment. www.bbc.com/news/article...

bbc.comTexas Attorney General Ken Paxton sues Tylenol makers over autism claimsHe accuses them of hiding alleged dangers from the drug, following the Trump administration's unproven claim it is linked to autism.

Is anyone running year-over-year stats on international attendance at big US tech conferences? I'm curious to see what the dropoff looks like. People I talk to in Europe and Canada are either not buying tickets or cancelling their tickets to major events.

What’s more astonishing: 1) that the president clearly believes, and repeatedly suggests, that asylum seekers are people from mental asylums, or 2) that no journalist has ever challenged him on this and no mainstream media outlets have done any deep dives on this story?

Anyone being surprised by this has not been paying attention for the past decade. Putin's Man in the White House does Putin's bidding. Always has.

The Tennessee Holler @thetnholler.bsky.social

FOX REPORTER: “The way it felt in the room was not good. It did not seem like things went well. It seemed like Putin came in and steamrolled, got right into what he wanted to say, got his photo next to the president, then left.”

The heat of Republican fury if Biden met with Putin in Alaska would have created its own weather system. Instead we watch the abdication of a nation to a tyrant, delivered by the weakest man who ever lived.

Movies, TV, and books habituated us to expect societal collapse to be sudden, all-encompassing, and caused by others. In reality, it is slow, unevenly distributed, and caused by the very people we look to for leadership.

Chokehold Capitalism has severed financial value from experienced value, while the meteoric re-emergence of far-right authoritarian leaders has severed humanity from dignity.

How to sound tough but do nothing: Impose tariffs on a country where we already impose sanctions. A 100% tariff on almost nothing will do almost nothing.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump's "big announcement" on Ukraine is that he's going to put 100 percent tariffs on Russia if there isn't a Russia-Ukraine deal soon

This is what fascist propaganda looks like. We learned about how to spot it in 7th grade history class in Norway.
