This is the best way to describe how I feel about AI and software development: I love a good puzzle. One day someone says "Hey! Use this AutoPuzzler™. It will sort all the pieces for you, and you'll finish the puzzle in seconds! It's great! You'll save so much time! You can puzzle so much more!"

I'm all for the ecosystem focusing on making tooling faster than ever before, but a part of me is quite sad this means lots of pieces are no longer JS. I don't want to learn Rust or Go or Dart if some tool is behaving weirdly and I want to debug.

Wholeheartedly endorse reviewing your own PRs! The transparency helps so much and it's a great opportunity to proactively call out anything that might require discussion Great, actionable way to shift towards a healthier review culture in the absence of team alignment h/t @cferdinandi.bsky.social

Understanding how people work together is hard. Ordering them to use ChatGPT is easy. So managers do the latter, and then express shock when productivity plummets. That's because problem framing is a social task. If you skip it, your solution will be wrong for ever; "build to learn" won't save you.

We're time traveling back to 1997 today, when WISYWIG editors were all the rage. In the decades since, web technology has clawed its way from that primitive state with semantic HTML that made accessibility possible and let content drive appearance rather than vice-versa. Then Figma blew it all up.

False alarm, apparently after running some things it actually started working, even though it gave some errors. After a reboot booted successfully into my old W10 instance (which I will upgrade nevertheless) :)

How I got into this biz

In sixth grade, one of our teachers died unexpectedly in the middle of the school year. The school then made the IT boss teach us some HTML & PHP as a replacement class. That was circa 2007, have not looked back since.

You are up to date.
