"While a post-Miku boom for Vocaloid has often emphasized the celebrity of producers over characters, overseas fans are now reasserting Teto's character, often with crippling back pain."

If you don't trust Google then you probably shouldn't use Gmail, but the claim it's training AI on your emails and attachments has *no real source that i have been able to find whatsoever* And they said on the record that it doesn't matter whether you have the smart settings on or not, they don't.

Between all the "Switch games are $90" and "All Switch physical games don't have the game in the card!!" misinfo going around, I bet Nintendo is regretting not just upfront stating these things in the Direct lol

Absurd rabbit hole we went down while writing Galactic Puzzle Hunt this year: a 189,819-letter word widely claimed to be the systematic name of the protein titin, and thus the longest English word, is totally wrong. @cjquines.com went super in depth so I don't have to: blog.cjquines.com/post/titin

my biggest concern with bluesky's federation models are the relays as of right now i cant see any concievable way for a relay to get only the events required for a single account to have a view of its follower feed (and replies) without cooperation on the part of every PDS on the network

i wonder if diagrams like these might help draw the distinction between ActivityPub (and how Mastodon uses it) and AT Protocol (and how it’s used by Bluesky and atproto apps)? with AP, instance = application + hosting. data gets sent between instances. with AT, data flows *from* hosting *to* apps

“our lead shares our philosophy that technology should serve the user, not the reverse this is why they focus on blockchains, a technology basically always used at the expense of its users”

See here for a list of what's public and what's private: mackuba.eu/2024/02/21/b...

DMs are not public. they are not E2EE, but DMs don't go in public repos so they aren't public. mutes and most preferences are also not public.

BY THE WAY, THIS IS IMPORTANT. If you want everyone showing up on your feeds, you gotta go into Settings > Basic > Languages and clear the Content Languages field. Essential.

This dog only wants one thing and it's fucking disgusting (A Tweetbot/Ivory-style client for Bluesky that actually saves your goddamn timeline position)

I'm still gonna stand one of the most annoying things is how people will just accept any lie just because it fits their hateful narrative and that's how fake news also gets shared
