Matthew

Kicking things off on Bluesky again. Hey all! My name is Matt and I've been a Visual Effects Compositor for over ten years. I mainly work in animation but also work in live action. My most recent work can be seen in GOAT, KPop: Demon Hunters and Across the Spider-verse! Cheers!

Always wild to me to see how much a shot can change over the course of production. Everything from inklines and animation to updated lighting passes. How many differences can you spot in my shot?

Hey! I'm working on this!

You remember that movie whose marketing said they didn't "rely" on "CGI" and the actors breathlessly talked about the practical effects and no green screens? Guess what. They relied on digital visual effects to make the movie. Yep, that movie. And the other one, too. And the other one, too.

Really happy to see my talented friends and coworkers have some of their work featured in this trailer! Especially that incredibly cursed last shot 🐍

Every time someone repeats the totally incorrect myth that "CGI" is cheaper than practical effects—it's not and that's a ridiculous statement—'because "CGI" isn't unionized,' they're unwittingly giving ammunition to studios who are arguing that unionization would be bad for the industry (it's not).

Life is too short to be mad at live action interpretations of animated films.

Four films I've worked on (We are counting Stranger Things)

A number of artists and creators have made their home on Bluesky, and we hear their concerns with other platforms training on their data. We do not use any of your content to train generative AI, and have no intention of doing so.

I feel like a lot of my tweets that popped off were the ones that I talked about my work on Across the Spider-verse?

Of everything I did on Spiderverse, I'm proudest of my work on Gwen's world - an alternate reality of color and emotion.

Really want to use this platform to give insight into visual effects and animation. I think I'll be posting here more often. I've had the opportunity to work in the film, television and animation industry for 15 years now. I'm currently working on KPOP: Demon Hunters for Netflix! 👋
