My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

This is a photo of Intel engineers working on the CAD design for the Intel 80286 CPU. I was drawn to the image on the right - since we have high resolution die photos, could we actually find what part of the CPU he was working on? Yes, we can #retrocomputing #vintagecomputing #reverseengineering

It says more about you than Tailscale if you find some vulnerabilities and then go ahead and publish a slop-filled "advisory" on a purpose-slopped website on a newly registered domain with a fancy name instead of - you know - *fucking disclosing to the devs in private*.

Oh, and that "corporate sponsor" bit reeks of "I want a bounty, nobody gives me a bounty, so I hold a huuuuge grudge". Congrats, you just became famous - but not in the way you think you would.

I will *NOT* link here that slop-filled website, there's no need to give this person more exposure than they deserve. Wait for the official security advisory from Tailscale and keep everything up-to-date.

If you support in any way, shape or form the nazidistro (you know which one) you're getting insta-blocked. I don't care how much your sw is cool or useful, if it targets primarily the nazidistro you can go fuck yourself straight into the sun.

Today in 1960—during warhead installation and checkout operations on a US Air Force Jupiter IRBM at Gioia Del Colle Air Base in southeastern Italy—three explosive bolts accidentally fired due to a power surge, causing the nose cone and 1.4-Megaton W49 warhead to fall 6 to 10 feet to the ground.

Fate pace col cervello.

You should also toggle this off if you use Tailscale and have subnet routing enabled in your tailnet (apparently this "feature" breaks split-horizon VPN routing in subtle and annoying ways)

Aaron Huggins@aaronhuggins.com

It may also be turned off at the whole global WIFI settings section of iOS 27. I don’t know if this also changes per-SSID, but it’s an option I also want turned off.

PSA: if you have a @tailscale.com setup with subnet routes *DISABLE CONNECTIVITY ASSIST ON iOS 27*. Somehow it completely breaks routing and routes traffic intended for the routed subnets through the mobile network instead of the tailnet! This is completely unrelated to VPN on Demand.

These people were the ones that gave us the unmitigated disaster that is Hacktoberfest and handwaved the consequences of their PR stunt on the FLOSS world, so it was very hard to sink lower. And yet...

Apparently Digital Ocean canceled their $50/month sponsorship of GNOME and FlatHub the month before giving Omarchy 3 million dollars. social.treehouse.systems/@barthalion/...

Hey @1password.bsky.social, stop supporting people calling for ethnic cleansing and discrimination of LGBTQIA+ people, there are plenty of opensource projects that you can support and don't have a leadership that sucks. Oh, and sack your VP of product for creating this mess, while you're at it.

Hey @1password.bsky.social, longtime customer here: stop giving your money to fascists.

This is your periodic reminder that if you're a DHH cheerleader you can fuck off into the sun.

kat cosgrove@kat.lol

Before you say positive things about DHH because of Omarchy, a reminder that it's been like 3 weeks since he published a blog that compares Roma people to the wolves Denmark eradicated in the 1800s. He's an open, virulent racist and always has been. Everything he touches should be radioactive.

Also, Omarchy is just an "opinionated" respin of Arch, stop believing the hype and accept the fact that the year of Linux on the desktop is always going to be next year.

Pointless stuff that lives rent free in my head: the UNIX dd command syntax is so bizarre because Dennis Ritchie wrote it to be as similar as possible to JCL's DD statement.

Just received a breathless press release from a Danish restaurant which says the kitchen decided to apply the principles of jazz to cooking. As someone with a size 12 foot firmly inserted deep in both camps, my conclusion, having read it all, is: they are not musicians.

It really saddens me when people that I used to respect suddenly begin to spread bullshit worth of a tinfoil hat conspiracy theorist on something I happen to know *very* well.
