Weird propaganda ad during the World Series calling liberals the *new* racists. If true, aren’t the republicans implying that they’re the OG racists? Like “Yep, we’ve been the racists for the past 400 years. NOW it’s the liberals!”

Thank you to the Pretti family for their courage. Minnesotans have not forgotten.

Alex Pretti's father delivered a message to U.S. Attorney for Minnesota Dan Rosen and Attorney General Todd Blanche: “Look in your heart and do what is right, share the evidence now so prosecutors can follow the facts and hold these men accountable. Do your job and stop shielding Alex’s killers.”

According to a recent survey, Americans are divided on whether empathy is a good thing. 83% of the religiously unaffiliated agreed that empathy is "a foundational moral value that helps build a healthy society” while only 42% of white evangelicals did. [kottke.org]

Mahalia Jackson’s voice helped inspire a movement for freedom and equality. On her birthday, we honor her legacy at the Obama Presidential Center, where “Take My Hand, Precious Lord” fills the museum soundscape and the café bears her name, thanks to the Judy and Peter Blum Kovler Foundation.

The International Ice Cream Consortium (IICC) sounds like a cover for a convention of global assassins. But I'd still trust the results of their ice cream awards. Just because they kill people doesn't mean they can't recognize great ice cream.

Over 2,000 alumni from Vivek’s all-boys catholic high school in Cincinnati have signed and circulated a petition demanding that he pull the ad and issue a public apology for “ignoring the moral responsibilities” of his Jesuit education. I think he’s pretty cooked.
