1 year exactly since the release of my debut book w/ @versobooks.bsky.social. In February '24 I wrote down in my journal my goals for the release - audiences reached, countries travelled, connections made etc. This 1st year wildly exceeded all my expectations, I am so so grateful. What's next? 1/4

Lula won in part by banning online gambling

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

Summer season for swimming here in Copenhagen is now over, but I'm continuing? Learning a proper front crawl and not wanting to end it? Doing ~45 mins every Weds morning in open waters. And will try to get to the winter? It'll become challenging, but I'm excited.

Did two more sessions since then - Both 25 min sessions in two rounds, temperature 8-10 celsius. Very invigorating, gonna keep going to lower temperatures!

Check out this incredible public (!) swimming pool they're opening 8 mins cycle from my home, too.. Some of the pics below still only the render, but that's it, they built it, it's opening in 6 weeks - kai.kk.dk Just super cool.

I dedicate much of the latter half of my book to industry consolidation. The conclusion is that videogames are an incredible art form in urgent need of liberation from draconian modes of production that will suphocate it and destroy it. Unbelievable the speed with which it's all taking place.

Back in '14 I thought the progressive response re: what's ruining videogames wasn't material enough, it ignored the real culprit - a profit-driven greed machine favoring slop/consolidation over creativity+invetiveness. We should've amplified that message back then, perhaps then the bosses would fear.

It's always the fighting games lot who are the raddest 💘

See now we're fucking talking One of the only weapons we wield in this fight is our money and attendance, and if everyone involved with an event says "I'm not going unless you stop using AI" there's only two outcomes: *No AI or No Convention* Conventions are made by and for the community

"With tens of billions sloshing around in consolidation deals big and small, it is increasingly difficult to exert any influence over power of such magnitude. The future of games is decided in pristine board rooms, with no input from those who craft the games or from the people who play them."

This is so important. Less yapping, at times racist drivel (ahem Green Party), and more of this, please! Actual direct action, travelling to the region and standing between the psycho settlers and defenceless Palestinian residents. Respect to Lander and hopefully more of this will follow.

I’ve been released from IDF custody with a “warning,” apparently because of my public profile (I told them I wasn’t even a congressmember yet, just a nominee). But several dozen rabbis & participants harvesting olives with me are still in detention.

Same people who will fetishise the French riots will opine that their "courageous" fight about nonsense words in actual activism. Honestly laughable. Go and get your hands dirty fighting alongside people on the ground attempting to stop a genocide. Oh noooo, that would require

actually collaborating with local activists, precious lil white gloves cannot come off! P.S. I of course underline in the above thread that of course very few can actually do it, but 1/100, come on, at least 1/100!

Drafted this earlier today so maybe repetitive, but stands - I got hundreds of takes that I'm trying to stop myself from uttering, as 99% of the discourse is useless yapping that doesn't achieve anything, at best and poisonous racist drivel at worst, but on exactly that note - I do not see a 1/4

Not even sure why I got inspired to talk abt this here, perhaps in search of some community, but thanks for reading & wish me luck in trying to improve my technique and do proper winter bathing and do some tiny small endurance swimming! (The Baltic Sea running through Copenhagen here in the pic✨)

Yesterday. Outside temperature 11 degrees, water temperature 12.2. 20 minutes in the water, then 10 mins sauna, another 10 mins in the water. They say to do 2 mins for every degree. So I'll keep going!

The way I see it there are 2 ways income is experienced rn: The precariat - salaried workers at all times anxious abt being laid off and / or indeed constantly being laid off, and passive income "earners" (landlords, trust fund kids, stocks / dividends kids). Seemingly very little exists in between!

Something to be said about how it's not even proletariat anymore as the root of that word comes from "proles" or offsprings which was seen as "the only contribution" to the Roman state by the poors. The precariat can't afford those either!

And already over 1mil trailer views on YouTube. Congrats team, what a triumph!

Have been sleeping terribly lately, very unlike me - probably all the Ls the left is taking lately, dk. But the rest of the autumn is looking quite cosy, so I'm sure I'll bounce back!

My suspicion is that people refuse to do it as they'd then have to deal with the left wing and anti-occupation movements in Israel, and with everything that is being yapped right now - it may be hard to look some people in the eye. Still one can hope. 4/4

This, I think, is where I fall on the motion. It is simply structurally bad.

diversity of tactics. I see homogeneity of tactics ie yapping and useless, marginal, counterproductive motions. If 1% of the energy put there would be given to practically going to the region and being a protective presence - perhaps things would be different. I've done it, it's miserable - 2/4

and proper scary. Western cops and fash are kindergarten stuff vs IDF and psycho settlers - and ofc not everyone can do it, but Israel has not closed its borders and so if 1 out every 100 yappers would perhaps join - it'd be a bit more diverse and who knows, maybe even effective. 3/4

A million things to say about the whole ordeal and how the UK Greens motion is counterproductive at best and hella racist at worst. All that aside, if looked at from a proper materialist lens - you know what would have been cool and rad? UK Greens saying "We, the British Empire, 1/3

Marijam Didžgalvytė@marijamdid.com

what's wrong; it's really fascinating to see no one bringing up the colonial shenanigans of Mandatory Palestine - Britain's historical massive responsibility over the way it occupied the lands there, subjugated the people, engineered a mess and promptly left. Zero accountability!

have historically made a mess there in Mandatory Palestine, reparations are in order. We'll motion to take responsibility and pay to undo our colonial actions over there leaving chaos and destruction behind." But they didn't, they wouldn't! 2/3

The motion is cowardly to say the least. A tonne more to elaborate on re: tactics, especially on the ground, but the debate is already so pointlessly yappy it's tough to bother on these platforms. 3/3

Though I hear the game is not easy, ofc needless to say the real deal is so much harder. But really hope more folk will be inspired to try making clothes!

Am really deep in researching the marathon swimming community, some unbelievable characters there. Full-time vets and teachers doing casual 5 hours in Norwegian winter waters or 54 hours (!!?) doing English channel four ways. Whaaat!

I'm a very weak swimmer (currently learning the technique better) and sadly had losses in my life to do with open water, so it's all very personal for me, not quite for health or anything, just feels like swimming for longish is a very important skill.

Last winter I spent in Tallinn Estonia, the plan is the same for this year, too. Last year it was a -16 situation for months. There are winter bathing clubs there. Will probably join, wish me and my lil body luck!
