Summer season for swimming here in Copenhagen is now over, but I'm continuing? Learning a proper front crawl and not wanting to end it? Doing ~45 mins every Weds morning in open waters. And will try to get to the winter? It'll become challenging, but I'm excited.

Last winter I spent in Tallinn Estonia, the plan is the same for this year, too. Last year it was a -16 situation for months. There are winter bathing clubs there. Will probably join, wish me and my lil body luck!

Am really deep in researching the marathon swimming community, some unbelievable characters there. Full-time vets and teachers doing casual 5 hours in Norwegian winter waters or 54 hours (!!?) doing English channel four ways. Whaaat!

I'm a very weak swimmer (currently learning the technique better) and sadly had losses in my life to do with open water, so it's all very personal for me, not quite for health or anything, just feels like swimming for longish is a very important skill.

Not even sure why I got inspired to talk abt this here, perhaps in search of some community, but thanks for reading & wish me luck in trying to improve my technique and do proper winter bathing and do some tiny small endurance swimming! (The Baltic Sea running through Copenhagen here in the pic✨)

Yesterday. Outside temperature 11 degrees, water temperature 12.2. 20 minutes in the water, then 10 mins sauna, another 10 mins in the water. They say to do 2 mins for every degree. So I'll keep going!

Did two more sessions since then - Both 25 min sessions in two rounds, temperature 8-10 celsius. Very invigorating, gonna keep going to lower temperatures!

Check out this incredible public (!) swimming pool they're opening 8 mins cycle from my home, too.. Some of the pics below still only the render, but that's it, they built it, it's opening in 6 weeks - kai.kk.dk Just super cool.
