Elon Musk has dumped almost $450 million into the midterm elections. Tesla paid 0% in federal income tax last year. We should tax the billionaires.

In 2012, Robin Williams warned us about Trump’s ownership of pageants like Miss America and Miss Universe, comparing it to Michael Vick owning pet stores: “It’s a catch-and-release program.” We should have listened to Robin.

Neil Bush: “I see in [James Talarico] the qualities I admire most in public servants: integrity, civility, humility, and a willingness to listen to those with whom he disagrees... a principled, pragmatic leader who understands public office is a responsibility to serve, not an entitlement to power.”

Europe doesn't necessarily have to decide that SpaceX technology is bad. It only has to decide that depending on an American private company for strategically essential communications creates an unacceptable sovereignty/concentration risk.

A despicable ad from Vivek Ramaswamy who is a despicable person. Desperate Republicans have run some horrible, dishonest ads to distract from their failures in office, but maybe none worse than this one.

The dirty money pays for more than just ads.

Huge follow-up reporting to my scoop: The Guardian confirmed America Next—the conservative nonprofit founded by Bobby Jindal that was offering students $ to disrupt El-Sayed events—paid a firm registered to Tommy Teepell’s dad Timmy $250k for “canvassing and influencer marketing” against El-Sayed.

Just 10 people have already poured over $1 BILLION into this year’s midterm elections. 90% has gone to Republicans. In the entire 2008 presidential cycle, the last election before Citizens United, total billionaire spending was $16 million. We need to get Big Money out of our democracy.

New Republic: Trump doesn’t want Jack Smith to testify in a deposition as part of his $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the BBC. Trump sure is fighting hard to keep the proof of his innocence from seeing the light of day. #ProudBlue #Pinks #SheShed

People buying into dumb staged events like this are the reason why America is now going through this disaster. He dresses up in an apron for a photo op at a closed McDonalds and people believe he was going to be a populist instead of grifting billions and building a ballroom.

Talarico: "We just found out that [Elon Musk] is almost single-handedly bankrolling this effort to install Ken Paxton in the U.S. Senate and defeat this movement...Elon Musk wants our land. He wants our water. He wants his very own personal United States senator. He is trying to buy Texas."

Saying that a country being attacked by Putin is an "ally" of the United States would piss off Trump. So Bessent cannot say that. Pathetic.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Bessent repeatedly refuses to say that Ukraine is still a US ally: "President Trump has made clear that he wants to end this war, that it must stop ... I'm not the secretary of state. I'm not the president."

Welker: "Is the president siding with Russia?" Bessent: "No, that's a false binary." Welker: "Is Ukraine an ally of the U.S.?" Bessent: *doesn't answer* Welker: "Does the U.S. see Ukraine as an ally?" Bessent: "I am not the Secretary of State. I am not the president."

Remember that everything Trump says is a lie and the opposite is often true. Trump frequently claims he “rebuilt” the U.S. military. That’s the tell. He’s recklessly depleted U.S. munitions and interceptors. And once again, he’s trying to blame Biden.
