Actually, I think I'm gonna just start listing little things I appreciate, without even tallying the [checks notes] zero likes.

do people at these rallies ever show up all hyped up to see the Big Man in person and then he says something like "I studied his ass to see where the power comes from" and they're like "oh my god I've tied myself to a lunatic"

Trump: The fake news only covered the ass part. They said 'what the hell was Trump doing talking about a man's anatomy? He was talking about his ass.' I studied his ass to see where the power came from

“Power comes from the ass” — the president of the United States for some godforsaken reason

Hell's Kitchen, the Alicia Keys musical: set in 1998 NYC. Concludes with an ode to NYC's skyline. Complete with projected drone footage of said skyline. There's three ways to do that. All three are super-distracting.

- You could feature 1998 skyline, distracting people with the pre-2001 WTC twin towers - You could feature the post-9/11 skyline, distracting people with the absence of the WTC - You could feature today's skyline, distracting people with the anachronistic 2014+ WTC tower They did the third one.

"...they fell in love and eloped to the Feywild, where they lived happily ever after. Their tomb there is sometimes nominated as one of..." The juxtaposition of "lived happily ever after" with "their tomb" amuses me. We're operating on Feywild fairytale rules here.

In fact I will say the Earnest and Pious Charismatic Ethnic Minority political figure (AOC, Mamdani, El-Sayed) has been a pretty good bet for the American left so far, whereas the Disaffected Gruff White Guy Showcasing True Masculinity (Fetterman, Platner) has been a worse bet. Just an observation.

Yeah start insinuating he has morning chai rather than coffee, say that he knocks things for 6 rather than hits a home run, allege that he is generally a clean living good boy who loves his mother and prays every Friday (pejorative).

A lot of anti AI sentiment is libidnal rage that the Other now has a ladder they cant pull up. That AI makes something possible for someone who wasn't supposed to be able to do it.

SE Gyges@segyges.bsky.social

being anti AI is a luxury belief only available to first world people, especially Americans imagine how important machine translation is for people whose first languages aren't that common

Malimar reposted

My general advice for using AI for any purpose is to ask yourself: "how do I make what I am doing even more ambitious?" You do this over and over until you either hit a wall and thus learn the shape of the jagged frontier (useful!) or you find out that the AI can do more than you think (common!)

Are we not hearing about catastrophic hardware vulnerabilities because our hardware is actually that good or because people are holding them back since they're unpatchable?

i know comparing everyone to christian fundamentalists is a bit passé, but some people truly do believe in binary "you are good or evil" and any drop of "evil" is total and contaminates your soul, even retroactively like "tarnish everything he ever accomplished".. dude phoned it in on a sticker

1% is way below standard polling error. In average poll you’d get 3-4% of people to answer “no” to “are you participating in a poll right now?”.

Lula winning is great for the planet, great for Brazil, and great for people who aren't revanchist assholes everywhere in the world, but let's not forget that it's also going to make some of the worst people on Earth extremely sad and mad. We should enjoy that, as a little treat.

We are now at the point where Trump is comparing the asses of Jon Husted and Nicki Minaj.

idk maybe every country just needs to have its little post-COVID paroxysmal experimentation with fascism and touch the stove and we just had to go back for round 2 because we were ahead of the curve in 2016 because we're a nation of bloody morons

anti-AI is gamergate for the left

There's also the phenomenon where people will mass review bomb games they didn't buy or play simply for having an AI disclosure. This is punishing people for honesty! That's super fucked!

Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights: “I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”

Sarah Connor very clearly would want to slow down AI development and agrees with AI doomers but she also has a Claude subscription and uses it for parenting because it’s more reliable than men
