The flurry of 70 human infections over the course of 11 months, followed by an abrupt halt, makes scientists wonder how many people may have had H5N1 since February without the public being informed. Read more from @lygianavarro.com: bit.ly/45NqwF8

These CA tomato pickers make 86Β’ per bucket. The worker runs back to try and make as many buckets as they can. Because of the hot weather they often only work 4 to 5 hours a day, so every bucket counts towards paying their bills. #WeFeedYou

This is some of the most exciting observational research into post-viral illness. At the end, @virusesimmunity.bsky.social says that positive results would lead them to try to pursue trials with immunotherapies like FcRn inhibitors, B cell targeting therapies, and IVIg.

It’s not too late to start masking. You don’t have to do it alone. You won’t be the lone masker. There’s an engaged Covid cautious and disability community who will help you. There’s local mask blocs who provide respirators to those who can’t afford them. Covid is still here, and masks work!

The amount of people chilling outside during what used to be called summer (now known as "wildfire season" in Canada) just rawdogging heavily polluted air ... not thinking about the future.

NEW RESEARCH: breathing polluted air in midlife (45-60 yo) can accelerate cognitive aging decades later. Even low levels of pollutants harm memory and processing speed. Your reminder that dementia is projected to triple by midcentury. Also we’re cutting Medicaid. www.newsweek.com/this-age-ran...

Marginalized people are at much higher risk of #LongCovid, which is why (at least in my city), I often see BIPOC, working class folks wearing masks more often than the rest of the general public. They know firsthand the threat they face. #MaskUp, folks.

This project was really well done, barring a huge omission: @propublica.org refused to use the words "disabled" or "disability." This is ridiculous given the prevalence of disability among the unhoused, and shows how poorly journalists understand disability. The fix: disabled journos in newsrooms.

We asked people who lived in homeless encampments that were cleared out in city β€œsweeps” to write about what object was the hardest for them to lose. β€œThey took my baby pictures and my moms obituaries,” a 29-year-old in California wrote.

Carney is asked about Canada releasing a statement threatening Israel with sanctions, which Israel has blatantly ignored. Will Canada act? Carney calls the situation "horrible" and says, in French, "we will make decisions when we make decisions." "It's not the moment today." Jesus Christ.

Mark Carney is holding a press conference right now about his government's new bill to remove federal barriers to internal trade and labour mobility. I thought there might be an announcement about tariffs during the presser, but we'll see!
