After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the webinar.Wildfires. Extreme heat. Tornados. Floods. As climate-driven events intensify, the pressure to connect environmental change to public health outcomes is growing — and so is the risk of overstating the relationship in news stories. Join the National Press Club Journalism Institute for a free training webinar, “The Environment-Public Health Link: Reporting With Rigor,” designed for experienced journalists navigating the line between correlation and causation in high-stakes reporting. Through real-world examples and insights from a reporter covering both environment and health, we’ll explore how to make rigorous editorial calls, communicate uncertainty clearly, and build stories that are both accurate and impactful. You’ll learn how to: • Distinguish between correlation and causation in environmental and public health reporting; • Report on climate-driven health impacts with precision, nuance, and scientific integrity; and • Frame complex environmental health stories in ways that are clear, credible, and compelling.
