also reading True Biz by Sara Noviฤ‡ & the reflection questions are amazing! I really appreciated this recent one: In a community where everyone knows sign language and things like employment discrimination aren't a problem, is deafness, a disability? Why or why not? #booksky #disability #Deafauthor

my little carousel of books are all entertaining ๐Ÿ’œ just finished The Scald-Crow by Grace Daly, and the creep factor was for real! I wasnt familiar with Irish Folklore, but it does make me more interested to research ๐Ÿ˜… current reading Framed by James Ponti! #booksky #YA #middlegrade #horror #mystery

just finished Eli Over Easy and that was one of the best middle grade books I've read since Moonflower by Kacen Callender. Heartfelt, true to grief and how people experience it differently, finding your own path to re-membering and celebrating, and quiet queer love โค๏ธ #booksky #middlegrade #lgbtqia

I loved that grief wasnt taken from the stance of stages, but from a place where re-membering, celebrating, talking about them, and pulling their wisdom into your life was showcased. from a therapist standpoint, thats a much less pathologizing and painful way of seeing grief.

I was grateful for how to author treated moving as another element of grief, both in missing the old place and trying to acclimate to a new standard that wasnt familiar. Everything that the author talked about was carefully thought out, and together made a beautiful masterpiece. Bravo!

these two are so wholesome ๐Ÿ’œ Asahi always is trying to assuage Mitsuke's insecurities and fears, and vice versa. They really hold space for each other's imperfections and differences, and repair the ruptures that happen with such compassion. I appreciate their relationship! #booksky #manga

of course...even in the manga about traveling around the world, #LosAngeles has to be know for their #metro #subway smelling like urine ๐Ÿคฃ so overwhelming it makes the poor kid sick and the next page is them talking about rideshare instead lol!! #booksky #manga #ournotsolonelyplanettravelguide

platform decay by martha wells ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ’‹ chef's kiss! I love the development of MurderBot and its ever-spreading govmod hack ๐Ÿ’œ and the involvement with children and how it's definitely growing in its emotional capacity and understanding of humans! love! #booksky #sci-fi #murderbotdiaries #murderbot

im thinking of doing march madness but books ๐Ÿค” taking #recommendations for books in the following categories: #sci-fi, #graphicnovels, #solarpunk #middlegrade, or #murdermystery. up the ante, rather than one offs, lets do book series so each new tier is the following book! #booksky

if library tourism isnt already a thing, I think im going to make it a thing. ive recently committed to a life long side quest to collect as many physical and digital library cards as possible. im currently up to 7 physical and 2 digital ๐Ÿ’œ & i loved San Diego Central ๐Ÿ˜ #booksky #publiclibraries

No candidate, regardless of party, will ever get my vote if they call me a "biological man" and advocate for laws targeting my community. Its that simple.

I recently had a conversation where we talked about the sentience/living aspect of plants. plants have the ability to communicate to each other, express distress on root systems etc. we see this with symbiotic fungi and oak networks. whats a vegans take on that?

Libraries make us a harder target for authoritarianism. Equal access to info, ideas, and space that doesnโ€™t require a purchase to belong. Also: using the library means money stays in your community instead of streaming out to Amazon. ๐Ÿ“š Whatโ€™s checked out on your card right now?

AIPAC may have bought our election in Illinois, but we're not going to let that happen in Michigan. 5 days left to make them panic. Vote for Abdul on or before August 4th.

I was going to read a clockwork orange, but in the intro to the book, as read by the author, he implied part of why he wrote the book was to vicarious enact sexual and physical violence that exists inside him, and thats such a disgusting statement to make. goodbye ๐Ÿ˜ฌ #booksky #dystopian

Splinter & Ash was such a phenomenal middle grade book ๐Ÿฅน Friendship, loyalty, courage, bravery, LOTS OF DISABILITY AND QUEER REP, tradition vs cultural change, forgiveness...too much to name is a couple hundred characters. I can't suggest this book enough ๐Ÿ’œ #booksky #middlegrade

Emmett Till was born right here in Chicago on July 25, 1941. And it is with deep humility and great pride that I signed legislation this week at Roberts Temple to declare his birthday as the Illinois Day of Reflection and Remembrance of Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley.

the Canadians who clown on folks from the US for the things that are going wrong for us lack the compassion and understanding many of us didnt vote for this - for our food to be contaminated, is the one thats happening lately, but among many many things that have happened.

Nobody talks about how we're all paying $15 for sandwiches now and just pretending that's normal. Five years ago that same sandwich was $8. The price doubled and the only explanation we got was "supply chain issues" which apparently means "forever."
