We used to have early voting at TCU and Southwest Regional Library plus sometimes some other schools and churches. GOP county commission cut early voting locations in half earlier this year. fortworthreport.org/2026/10/13/f...

Early voting has started in Texas. And they make it so hard. There’s not a single polling station in the Fort Worth area bordered by I-30, I-35, I-20 and Chisholm Trail Parkway. That’s the TCU, Colonial, Zoo, Clearfork area, major residential with biggest high schools in town.

I’m sorry to have to be the bad guy here but we need to recognize that we live in a compressed air thrusters world now. If you’re not finding ways to teach the critical use of compressed air thrusters in your classroom, you’re setting your students up to fail when you could be setting them up to fly

When I first wrote about the First Amendment and the White House press pool for the textbook about a decade ago, it was only a few grafs. Now it's a much longer passage. Here's an excerpt with my comments about the CNN/Politico/MS Now ban and lawsuit. medialawprof.medium.com/press-pools-...

medialawprof.medium.comPress Pools, the First Amendment, and “rogue, mooning journalists”For our textbook “The Law of Public Communication” — 14th edition coming in 2027! — I’ve authored the “Access to Information” chapter for…

If you graduated between Dec. 2022 and May 2026 in journalism or a related field and currently work or have previously worked full time for a news organization in Oklahoma for at least six months, please consider taking part in this study and passing it on to folks who may qualify!

Every time I teach Media Literacy, I ask students what they think are the top 3-5 news stories since 2000. I usually have the top 10 but this year it is only 9 because of so little consensus. And yes, for 9, they wrote "prez elections," not any in particular, so I wasn't forcing it to be a catchall.

UW-Madison professor engages in multiple sexual relationships with students, disparages another over their sexual orientation and appearance, creates hostile environment, and department leadership covers it all up. And in true “pass the trash” fashion, moves on to ASU once forced to resign.

When political parties use AI images they need to label them, according to the EU AI Act. More fundamentally they should ask themselves if they really want to contribute to the authenticity blur. I comment on a recent case in Danish politics here @ddc-sdu.bsky.social www.dr.dk/nyheder/poli...

This is the letter kids got at the end of Dolly’s Imagination Library. I defy you to read this and not cry.

When I was a kid visiting my dad's family in Mississippi, they asked who was favorite singer was. I said, "Polly Darton," and they all laughed while I had no clue of my little slip up. Rest in power and all the good you did for this world, Dolly.

We've been getting a lot of questions about how the Internet Archive digitizes books. The short answer: page by page, by hand. You may remember our viral 2021 video of Eliza Zhang scanning a book. That's still how we do it. Meet Eliza, and learn how we scan books: blog.archive.org/2021/02/09/m...

NYT lede: "Giorgia Meloni, daughter of the extreme right..." There's a lot in this article but I am just pausing hard on the "daughter" part. She's not the mother of it, as in wasn't the architect, but what does it mean to be the daughter of it? www.nytimes.com/2026/08/21/w...

I wanna make sure everyone understands what this means: when you pull TikTok data for the same hashtag at the same time using the official API and a scraping tool, you'll get two completely different datasets.

People think "Hollywood" is rich and famous. The reality? Film and TV is a national industry. It's a blue collar industry. And it is an industry free fall. I would like to amend the quote about war being how Americans learn geography. Sub "World Cup" in for "war." We have pulled the globe out at the dining table multiple times already for the kiddos (and ourselves).

Dan Pfeiffer said: “You could end up with an all-male field, which would be kind of gross in 2028.” "It may be gross, but it’s also a logical conclusion, if you’re paying attention. If we’ve defined authentic power as male, then there’s no way for a woman to claim it."
