I looked it up. The average length of deployment is 6 to9 months, but lengths of deployment with no opportunity to come ashore are recently increasingly being stretched. It sounds like conditions are horrible.

I hear you. Somebody should be able to plan coherent rotations that maintain morale, combat effectiveness, and community. It's a tradeoff. You can't keep them on a ship indefinitely just because they are the most experienced. Burnout is exacerbated by the uncertainty of the deployment time.

It's not just being deployed for nine months, it's no port calls no liberty...I spent 22 of 24 months deployed, however there were many port calls during the deployment. It makes a big difference.

The U.S. Navy, follows the Optimized Fleet Response Plan (OFRP), which operates on a standard 36-month cycle. Deployment Phase: The ship goes on a standard 6 to 8-month active deployment overseas. As commander in chief this SOP should have been known.
