i did hand my keys (house and bike) to my sister to put in her purse because these trousers (least fucked up looking pair i had on hand) are women's trousers and have real tiny pockets and then i forgot to get them back until i was back in voorhout at my bike. so i had to go back to leiden again

not gonna dig out my work laptop and do timesheets so i just need to wait 30 more min or so until my window for doing them closes and i can stop feeling bad because i am definitely in minor trouble

it's fine until the month is over and they do the actual billing, so i have a few days. it's just that tuesday morning is when the automated snitch report drops and people get told i didn't do em again in my defense when i am at work people keep bringing me shit to do

ordered takeout and the place didn't have a way for me to enter a tip on checkout. guess i'll try handing the person the fiver i happen to have in my wallet

zoomer lookin delivery guy looked at me kinda bemused, i suspect being handed paper money was maybe kind of a novel experience but he did take it

the task did not require the biggest wrench i own, that was just the one i could find in the shed when i was scrambling to grab tools before leaving that morning

(not necessarily looking for tips, i will bother my sister about it because she owes me for the floor tbh. i guess plan B is rushing to buy something beforehand tomorrow and plan C is watching the live stream? idk)

did the hallway, living room, and kitchen, so that's a wrap for now (might do the bedroom later). kitchen wasn't so bad tho, not a lot of furniture to move around

watching episode 2 of the new train anime and... i would like to like this but it's just boring and kinda annoying. you gotta have interesting characters or story or art/animation or like. something, anything

oh these ending credits are actually surprisingly cute. it's actual shots of a model railroad layout, from the train's perspective, with some characters rotoscoped in. also forgot tomytec is one of the big investors in this lol. that explains it

ah shit it's late already. finally gonna do the kitchen floor at my sister's place tomorrow. but i'm so behind on animes i keep forgetting to watch them

dutch people bicycles are all "i bought this off some guy at the train station for €30, i think it's made of metal under all the rust" and american people bicycles are all "this was custom CNC machined for me out of a single piece of titanium. it is powder coated in neon lime green for some reason"

i guess that's not true, every american bike guy i see does not buy a bicycle they buy individual parts like it's one of those de agostini partwork magazines for kids where you get a piece of a model kit every month

juuust in case this takes off while i'm asleep let me also just note i am a huge hypocrite because i ride like a €800 bicycle with hydraulic disc brakes and stuff. but a bunch of my friends and coworkers are still like this

weird to finally have become an "anki guy" (anki being flashcard software). i thought it'd be harder but turns out everyone i've seen write about using it to study japanese is just insane and has a ridiculous setup

like i remember reading about people bulk OCRing their manga to 'mine' vocabulary in bulk and then automatically making flashcards with dictionary data and it's just like, nah, you can just click some buttons to make them. it's fine. better even than using dictionary definitions

it would be nice to automate the last little step for putting words i looked up in my japanese dictionary app into my anki deck... too bad i probably can't

they currently end up in a list and then the list gets longer and longer i can export the list to a file, in a format anki can import, but it's not quite to my liking and also i just need what's been added since last time

but thinking this through, what i really want is the ability to sort the list in my dictionary app by when i added the word. then i can just work my way down until i hit something i already put in. and i paid money for this app so i might as well ask the devs

i just cannot recognize the character 緒 (cord) on its own for some reason. even though it's in such a common word, 一緒 (issho, together)

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen stay exactly the same in your lifetime? I say rubber bands. They were fine back then and they’re fine now.

someone said 'printers' and i remember printers being way more of a pain in the ass. some of them still are but i feel like the brother usb laser printer has kind of made basic printing a solved problem imo

i love fake regional food tbh. we have a pizza chain in the netherlands called 'new york pizza'. it exists only in the netherlands, and the 'new york style' they do by default is a thick crust pizza (the thin crust is "italian style")

there's a burger chain in toronto that sells "california style" burgers, which means that the buns are inverted. not a thing in california. im losing my mind at how stupid this fuckin burger looks. i can't believe they sell this as a regional specialty.
