Ah, NYC radiator season is upon us. When the steam pipes start blasting heat and it makes absolutely no difference how tightly you close them. The apartment is a sauna. Our kid woke us up at 2:30 am because he was so hot he’d had a nightmare that he was trapped in a burning building. 🥵

I hear the hole in the ozone layer has improved. Remember when that was the scariest climate crisis we were facing?

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Hope scrolling this trending topic this morning. 🥰 Negative bias is real, human (and necessary for survival!), have to actively fight it by looking for the good.

Just because you do not take an interest in politics, does not mean politics won't take an interest in you. - Pericles Get out the vote! 💙💙💙

Machines switching votes, fewer polling places and long ballots can all be defeated by voting early.

Ms. (almost) 9: “S is kinda like a Brooklyn person.” Me: “What does that mean?” Ms. 9: “You know, they think they’re really great, but they’re not.” Say you’re from Queens without saying it. 🤭

Cloudy skies and empty boulevard. I liked the composition of this one (another snap taken by husband on his run, so I can’t take credit for photo or run 😅)

I want to contribute to the beautiful photography on Bluesky too! My husband manages to get some really nice snapshots on his runs, like this one #photography #running

Celebrated 15 years of being together (13 married) at Chef Emily Yuen’s Yingtao. We got to sit at the kitchen side counter and watch all the masters in action. I absolutely love what they’re doing here to bring traditional Chinese flavors together with Michelin star gourmet dining.

I wore an off-the-shoulder top today and my daughter asked if it was supposed to be like that. “Oh! Like the ’80s!” she said. My husband added, “That’s like the ’40s for us.” I then proceeded to crumble to dust.

Rage-bait AI image floating around of two Walmart receipts. I did this exercise for my kid’s yearbook last year. There’s been inflation for sure, but no AI assist needed to prove this point.

Another great visit from Gary Snyder sensei. New York City will always be his aikido home away from home. When I’m 70 I hope to still have this kind of flexibility and good knees 😆

Every day, Mamdani proves that something better is possible. That we do not have to accept what corporations and their political shills have decided we are worth. He makes doing things that we've been constantly told are impossible look easy.

Ruin a book by adding a word The Three Bean Body Problem (I don’t know why these never get old, but I’m here for it every time it comes back around)

I was so excited to check this out but the results were just boring and accurate. What’s a girl gotta do to leave behind a funny Amazon trail of breadcrumbs?

Amazon users are discovering a bizarre "About You" page that reveals what the company thinks it knows about them One woman found Amazon had determined she "has flat buttocks"

This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead

They compare iFLY wind tunnels to skydiving, but obviously not the same at all. Being buoyed by a strong wind and flying through the air in a controlled environment=Fun. Falling out of an airplane at 14k feet above the ground=Terrifying.

My first Kamayan. Went to Ihawan in Woodside, Queens to celebrate a friends birthday. Full disclosure: we were given utensils and didn’t have to eat with our hands. Is it still a Kamayan if you use a spoon and fork?

Let’s not downplay what a miracle story this is because NYCHA is not City. It's state funded. So anything that deals with its renovations is a bajillion times harder to fund.

The 2,000 residents at NYCHA’s Nostrand Houses have lived with outdated appliances, faulty heating and cooling systems, unreliable elevators, untreated lead and mold, and weak security systems that have decayed over time.

Managed to get breakfast at Nisk without a word of English exchanged! I think I confused the lady helping me, she probably wasn’t sure what language to default to as I’m sure like everyone else in Berlin she can speak fluent English 😆

I’ve arrived in Berlin and need to sing the praises of Scandinavian Airlines. ✈️ Our JFK flight was delayed almost 2 hours, and 57 of us were connecting in Oslo. The connecting flight delayed departure by 40 minutes so we could ALL make it! That’s how you do airline customer service. 👏

The only kind of politician I want to see posts about.

Child: This is my first time meeting a mayor. Mamdani: Wow, have you ever met a prime minister? Child: No Norway PM Jonas Gahr Støre: *walks over*

Finished reading “Everything I Never Told You” by Celeste Ng. A tragedy about what happens when parents want everything for their children that they didn’t or couldn’t have, and their children just want to make their parents happy. @pronounced-ing.bsky.social 😭😭😭 #booksky
