If you live in London, you benefit from the labour of a thousand years and a hundred generations that have lived here before. All they ask in return is that you spend five minutes of your day cleaning their bone juice off your shower screen, and that they intermittently wreck your plumbing.

The thing about Londoners is they stand, dripping in the nip after each shower, squeegeeing the shower screen to stop limescale build-up

Has the whole world’s CarPlay failed today? Thought it was just me but there appears to be more to it. Dodgy update? #carplay

I’m finding it really funny that the sliding centre commentators have no idea who Flava Flav is. “There are some very exuberant fans out there tonight!”

One of the classics doing the rounds again, and it would be rude not to. [Someone managed to do a follow up with the clerk of the council, and they found out that the new stacking regime had been a success]

I finally decided to sell my last remaining drum (a 13” Noble & Cooley CD maple snare) from my music days, lifted it out of its case, gave it a single tap, and now I know I can’t sell it. Is it just me, or does everyone have some silly thing from their youth they can’t quite part with?

In April 2024, Spotify implemented a new scheme: songs with less than 1k streams per year would no longer receive royalties. The data for 2025 was just released via Luminate, and 88% of songs have been demonetized. Read it again: 88% of songs on Spotify have been demonetized.

Does anyone on here have any tips for a cheaper alternative to squarespace? I’m paying too much for my site at the moment. 😕

I just rediscovered my old video diaries from a student round-the-world trip I did in the early 2000s. Aside from the rambling monologues of pretentious self-discovery, I sincerely regret buying and overusing a fisheye adapter for the camcorder at the very start of the journey. Gahhh!

I just started watching the John Candy doc “I Like Me”, and was really shocked to see some godawful AI b-roll thrown in for no reason. Eeyooo… If only there was available footage of America in the 1950s.

There's a direct correlation between the world being unhappy and the introduction of angry-looking car headlights. All we see when we walk down the street is scowling cars with furious expressions. It's got to have an effect.

feels a bit weird that we keep having these stories about individual cyber attacks but without anyone really joining the dots and going "okay, shall we maybe talk about this as a major global story"

Japan is just a few days away from running out of Asahi Super Dry as the producer of the nation’s most popular beer wrestles with a devastating cyber attack that has shut down its domestic breweries www.ft.com/content/bb86...

As a film title, Dwayne Johnson’s new movie “The Smashing Machine” should have been reserved for the next Wallace and Gromit project.

My first day out with the new Nikon Z 24-70mm f2.8 mkII. It’s already noticeably lighter and faster to focus, plus an all -internal zoom. Seems like a winner! #photography

British people, particularly middle class British people aged from 30 to 50, really, *really* need to stop reading so much American domestic politics news because it's in the only language they understand. It's mostly irrelevant and it's driving you mad.

I'll never get over Richard Briers being 40, doing a well paid, secure design job, making fun toys, being married to a 29 year old creative, devoted sexpot, living in a large suburban London home with a massive garden and thinking everything is rubbish at the start of A Good Life

I’m working my way through Kurt Vonnegut’s books and, man, does he keep nailing it. “Galapagos” is crazily prophetic of where we are today.

Wandering the Camp Bestival site in the early hours, I was surprised to find kid’s tv presenters Dick & Dom doing a rave DJ set. As I was getting used to that, they dropped an Ozzy Osbourne tribute and played War Pigs. 🤘

And Madsen wasn’t in Pulp Fiction. Hope the AI Streeting wants to use for transcribing medical notes is more reliable.

Nicholas Pegg@nicholaspegg.bsky.social

Reservoir Dogs was 1992, not 1994. Pulp Fiction was 2 years later, not 11 years later. Jesus Christ, @theguardian.com, whatever wretched AI rubbish you’re using in place of proper journalists, it ain’t working. Switch it off.

A few more moments from Glastonbury 2025. This year marked thirty years since my first visit, back in my drumming days. When I have time, I’ll put together a blog post at some point with images from over the years.

A small selection of the people and bands from the Glastonbury Festival 2025. I always try to spend as much time as possible away from the main stage, finding the smaller musical acts and documenting the people who make Glasto so special.

Hi everyone I was denied entry, detained, and deported from the USA over the last 48 hours because of my reporting on the Columbia student protests I arrived back in Melbourne hours ago and had my phone handed back to me upon landing
