We have to do something about DHA, if all they are doing to Roseland Homes is some renovations. This should be redeveloped as mixed-income. Instead of 270 low income units ONLY, it should become 300 affordable units and another 1200 market rate units. www.dallasnews.com/news/investi...

the navy isn't as much of a surprise but i was not expecting we'd get the United States Marines in the national divorce
Woah - boards of service in the Marines and the Navy are ignoring Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth's order to purge transgender troops from the military. "Navy and Marine Corps boards have voted to retain trans members in nine of 12 cases." www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/u...

You joke but the pollingโs been consistent: the state of menโs asses is a top-three issue in North Carolina.
Trump: "I'm studying his body. I've never studied the body of a man before. It's not my thing. Nothing wrong with it, of course. But it's never been my thing. But I looked at his ass. I said, 'His ass, shit, it's like a pile of muscle.' Then I looked at his legs and I said, 'Man, his feet are big.'"

In this vein I find it helpful to remember Elizabeth Anderson's argument that the point of education is not to reward merit, but to create it.
the other thing is that conservatives resolutely do not see the purpose of education as providing social mobility but as reifying and deepening existing inequalities of status. they are as hostile to low income students getting admission to elite institutions as they are black ones.

the permitting reform deal is extremely good and Dems should support it because 1. It will lower carbon emissions 2. It will not help Trump politically, and most of the benefits wonโt be felt until 2029 3. we wonโt get a better deal while Trump is President 4. We can always improve it in 2029
My colleagues and I at @heatmap.news spent all day putting together a full explainer of the new bipartisan Senate permitting deal. Read and get up to speed! #energysky #greensky
@thedotcity.bsky.social thank you for pushing the DART board to take a more aggressive stance on state funding tonight.

i mean, just look at how the populists talked about the railroad barons and others like them. "The fruits of the toil of millions are boldly stolen to build up colossal fortunes, unprecedented in the history of the world, while their possessors despise the republic and endanger liberty."
plenty of 20th century examples by my 19th century-pilled mind goes immediately to the railroads, which were HUGELY DISRUPTIVE and deeply enmeshed in politics in ways quite analogous to silicon valley and AI
