Except those of us who will be plunged into an ice age when the AMOC current collapses! We'll also have to adjust a second time in the other direction

It’s nearly time for our Halloween book swap! Taking place Saturday 31st Booktober, 11am-12.30pm, at An Síol, 19 Manor Street. As usual we’ll have a great range of books for all ages - and if you have any books with ghosts or ghouls you’d like to bring along, so much the better!

An Síol has a ground floor location & we have lots of chairs for anyone who would like to sit down for a bit. Weather permitting we hope to have books both inside and outside. Do pop by to pick up a new-to-you read, or just for a browse or a chat!

The #PlayStreetsBETA trial began today. To help us learn more widely, there will be various phases to the project. We won't begin to use the gates until a few weeks time (shown below from the 'inside' of the space). We would very much appreciate your questions, feedback and suggestions throughout.

Ireland’s performance on #climate mitigation is the worst in Europe and will still be the worst in 2030. In this infographic that’s measured by the size of the gap between the left of the green bar graph (cuts achieved) and the blue dot (2030 goal).

We need some simple alternatives to overcomplicated water units with electronics:

Jack Fifield@jackfifield.uk

Maybe just putting in a regular tap would have saved state-owned South Western Railway from having to sponsor the water dispenser in its own station. Just a thought.

It's 21 degrees in Dublin. I no longer have any fucking clue how weather and seasons work.

A micro nature reserve on a Dublin street. Only the tree was planted, everything else seeded in naturally once the railing went up. Imagine all the invertebrate life going on in there. Above all, nature just needs space to do its thing.

This event last night was unbelievable. Truly can’t believe how many people came out and just how passionate and energized people are here. Dublin and the people here are officially the greatest.

Listening to the inspirational @tomflood.bsky.social speak to a packed TCD theatre in Dublin last night I realised 1. We need to put children at the centre of our transport systems. GIVE KIDS THE FREEDOM TO CYCLE TO SCHOOL THE WAY WE USED TO

Cycled 8km across Dublin this morning from Goatstown to Grangegorman & I experienced motorists running red lights and illegally blocking junctions EVERY time the opportunity arose. Busses couldn't move, cars were frozen at green lights, everyone was endangered. There's no law on the road anymore.
