Daylight Savings ends this weekend and it's bad enough that we still gotta deal with it at all. But Canada...if you're gonna get rid of it, everyone needs to do it together! Please tell Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic Canada, and Nunavut to get on board so we don't have THIS!

I'm counting this as my Halloween concert as we played Totentanz by Liszt. I can't be playing this much Dies irae a week before Halloween and not consider this the holiday concert!

I scheduled my Flu and COVID vaccine appointments and voted (because we all vote by mail in WA state) so I rewarded myself with a pumpkin and a mini Cthulhu-pumpkin! And yes I'm in my N7 hoodie because I continue to be sad about Bioware. <3

It took an update from the #TalesFromWoodcreek Kickstarter (and a poke from Ms Green) to get me to FINALLY make a phone call! SPOILERS for those puzzling along. The crowdfunding might have ended & the #dnd show may not have started yet, but the mystery continues... #UseTheKeyToSetUsFree

Today at work I was bombarded with more AI slop than usual and it reminded me to repost this glorious post all about broadsheets. I learned the pointy hands are called manicules!!

Gwen C. Katz@gwenckatz.bsky.social

Fuck ChatGPT flyers. The future is broadsheets.

If Costco is gonna play Everybody's Talkin' by Harry Nilsson on the speakers to show off the sound system in the back then I'm gonna sing along while picking up toilet paper and Creamy Cranberry Jalapeno dip, and I refuse to be embarrassed no matter how many people give me second looks!

When Grammy-winning musician Rhiannon Giddens begins playing “Old Corn Liquor,” a traditional Black American folk tune, acclaimed Chinese pipa virtuoso Wu Man recognizes similarities to Chinese pentatonic music and spontaneously joins in. The joy on their faces says it all.

Now until the end of the year there are going to be LOTS of charity events raising money for excellent causes! While we all want to help as much as possible, especially considering the state of the world, during the holidays it can get extra stressful & feel overwhelming. A few things to remember...

There are ways beyond money to help support charity events. One of the best is helping spread the word about the ones you are passionate about! Those taking the time to help find folks who do have the money to donate are a HUGE help! No account is "too small" to help, every person is appreciated!

Finally a reminder to try and take care of yourself, and forgive yourself when you feel guilty about not being able to do more. Drink some water, have a snack, take a deep breath, and be as nice to yourself as you are to everyone else. <3

You cannot participate in every charity event. We will all understand when you can't play/produce/mod/be in chat. Because no one can support/repost/promote them all! Do what you can when you can. Cheer on and support others whenever possible. But try not to feel bad when you cannot help.

OboeLauren🔜PAXUnplugged

Many folks have the resources to donate, even offer very large donations, which is fantastic! But many more don't have money to offer. Don't feel bad if you can't donate to a charity event. We've all been in the situation where we don't have a dollar to spare. Don't hurt yourself helping others.

Happy Thanksgiving! This year both @lukemckay.bsky.social & I have to work parts of the long weekend, so no special food for us. But the special part is being thankful for my friends and family, so I'll make sure to take time away from work to call and say "I love you." And maybe buy a pumpkin!

When my parents gave me their Nikon, my goal was to just have fun taking pictures. That included at conventions, of friends, and of all the critters around our apartment. But a small part of me will always hope to one day capture an animal picture funny enough to submit to this competition!

There were a few reasons I made a trip to @fridaytea.com and one of the main ones was that I discovered we were out of Mexican Mulling Cacao. We will not have that problem again for a little while.

OboeLauren🔜PAXUnplugged@lauren-urban.com

Took a quick trip out to @fridaytea.com with @lukemckay.bsky.social to pick up a couple of teas we were out of, and then grabbed a bag of Dicks Drive-In. We almost got the Jimothy tea pet, but that will have to happen on a future trip!
