The Bioware closure is hitting me both as a gamer and as a media scholar. The first time I came out publicly and discovered the US uni where I did my PhD was at a video game conference in the UK where I talked about women in DAO/DAII. Now more than ever I want to write my Mass Effect book. .

I feel like all the Bioware retrospectives have not yet dwelt enough on what an absolute watershed Femshep was in terms of female playable protagonists

Job hunting is soul-crushing. Trying my best not to take all rejections as a personal failure (including when being a finalist for jobs I don't get). It's hard and an uphill battle.

So, I had 2 interviews for a part-time job. A friend made an introduction with one of the founders. I am "amazing" with "wonderful skills," which helped the org "clarify" the required skills for the role, which I obviously don't have. If those had been in the posting, I wouldn't have applied.
