I'm of similar mind. Big part of art is that it's an expression of a skill. It's not just about the end product - what makes art impressive are the (dozens of) thousands of hours a person dedicated to honing their skill. You take that away and the end result is a lot more hollow.

One of the most disappointing things for me personally with the advent of AI is that it has damaged my ability to be impressed with software. Whether it be open-source projects, games, mods, sites, etc. I can admire the skill involved to develop something, but not if it's a machine doing it.

Can someone explain (mainly someone who knows Qt/CMake) why ignoring the CMake error makes my Qt C# program to just work? On the bright side, I can now test Qt out, and maybe even port my programs to Qt.

I thought hard mode on Thrive would be...hard. Within 2 hours, I went from the super primitive to being able to collect 90 cells before going into multicellular stage.

Scrolling through YouTube and I see this video. That is one hell of a click bait title. GrapheneOS isn't an "illegal Operating System". It is perfectly legal, but a very privacy focused on. Also, this looks somewhat AI gen to me. Not gonna watch it, as I don't want to promote this kind of BS.

Trying to use #Qt as a UI library instead of Avalonia or Uno, is making me pull my hair out. Can't use spaces or the pound symbol in any path. Needed to use Qt v6.11.2. Now I am stuck at it saying it could not write new RPATH. At a lost on what to do now, and all this to get Qt working with C#.

One of the most frazzling things to me is when people expect you to achieve goals that are near impossible, either explicitly or implicitly. It's like being setup for failure and then judged for failing - from the beginning I know it's impossible to avoid, yet I'll still try.

Oh geez, it's been three years already. I haven't even realized it's today. On one hand... yay we survived three years! On the other... how are we still surviving, everything feels like it's on fire lately! So on the third hand (which is a foot) - thanks everyone for helping us survive.

Thank you all for THREE YEARS OF RESONITE! On this day in 2023, we opened our doors to a flood of users excited to connect, play, and create in VR. Over the last 1095 days, we've seen some incredible things and met incredible people. Here's looking forward to more! #resonite #socialvr #VR #gamedev

HUGE: The Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes have both voted to impose a three-year moratorium on data center construction on tribal lands — temporarily banning dara centers on 8,000 square miles. The Cherokee Nation, Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, and the Kickapoo Tribe have all imposed similar bans.

I'm not a big fan of generative AI myself, but what's the worst about it, that regardless of my opinion on it, it makes it really difficult for small companies like us to survive. On one hand, we have people who want it banned completely. On other we have a chunk of people who use it a lot.

My new shorthand for our new gilded age: "We shouldn't have let the phone company buy all the taxi companies." ... and warehousing and delivery companies. and courier services. and media companies. and so on

I feel it should be more okay to take the stance of "I'm going to wait until I have more information" before jumping to a conclusion. I often see people make a conclusion on something right away, on very limited information. It's okay to not make up your mind on something right away.

I wish people would switch away from proprietary formats for open ones. Instead of H.264/HEVC, use AV1. Instead of DOCX, use ODT. Instead of FBX, use GLB. Open formats are better, because it allows for better cooperation.

I got a call from a company, could barely understand the question she asked, and I just got up. So I said, "I am sorry, I just woke up and didn't understand what you said. What as the question?" They hung up. Think I dodged a bullet with that company. I don't even remember applying to them.

It's always been stupid and fake, but even more so now, that a "caravan" of migrants would be coming here, of all times, given how we are torturing and renditioning and sending them to concentration camps.

I keep seeing this attitude in this site and with things getting even sourer in LATAM due to US interference I guess I have to say it but: You can and should support Palestine without putting down other conflicts around the world. Playing misery Olympics helps no one, We are all in this fight.

Free Palestine, Free Ukraine, Free Cuba and Venezuela and wishing the best to my Brazilian friends so they get to keep their democracy too. Imperialism is the enemy, thats all.

I love how I hear people say, "Oh just get a job." Ok: Applies for retail job - "Sorry, went with another candidate." Applies for an IT job - "Sorry, went with another candidate." Makes me wanna just give up, been out of work for almost 2 years. I want to watch the world econ burn to the ground.
