Shipped a few quality-of-life improvements to OpenAlternative search. Results are ranked by relevance now, and a small typo still finds the right tool.

OpenAlternative@openalternative.co

Search on OpenAlternative now ranks results by relevance. Look up "google analytics" and its alternatives page comes first, with the open source tools that replace it right after. Small typos work too: "imich" finds Immich. Try it with ⌘K openalternative.co

My first dead disk on @hetzner_online and it was replaced in under an hour 🤯 Fast, no drama, exactly what you want when hardware fails Thanks to the team!

killed the weekly ad plan barely anyone picked it, and honestly a week is way too short to tell if an ad works a week of rotation is way too short to tell if anything works anyway added impression estimates to every plan instead, so you know what you're getting

my advertise page said 300k monthly pageviews checked analytics today. it's 900k 😅 traffic tripled since july and I never updated the number, so I was underselling the site 3x this whole time fixed that + added a proper audience section

next thing I'm building in revinel: monthly reports for advertisers impressions, clicks and ctr, straight to your inbox every month a gold ad on @openalternative.co did ~400k impressions and 1,200 clicks last month, so there's plenty to show 👀

reworking the advertise page on @openalternative.co the old one just listed ad spots as text so it was kinda hard to picture what you're actually paying for so now every format gets a little preview + which plans include it + how much traffic it gets thoughts? 👇🏻

AI is too good at finding bugs now. Software is never perfect, and every fix introduces a couple of new bugs, the ones probably no one will ever run into. Yet AI now finds every single one and makes them sound urgent (even breaking ones), so you rush to fix them.

Submissions on OpenAlternative got out of hand, so I asked Opus 5.5 to build me a dashboard to go through all 403 of them one by one. It took 2 minutes to build 🤯 Now to the fun part...

You can see the pace of growth directly on tool cards now at @openalternative.co ⬆️ Used the stacked arrow approach I remember from the old games 😅 Also, replaced the fork count with the license as it's more important to see right away.

My Keywords Everywhere credits were expiring yesterday so I had Claude burn through them Asked it to do keyword research across all my projects until the credits ran out Got back a full SEO audit and content strategy for each site, plus a linking strategy to connect them all Gold! 🤯

If your AI conversations are getting really slow, try compacting them This happens a lot with long-context models (Opus 1M, etc) when the conversation gets too long Most tools have a "compact" or "summarize" feature that keeps the context but reduces the tokens Makes a huge difference 👍🏻

OpenAlternative is at a point where if I add new content to the site, it gets indexed and ranked *immediately* This example took only few minutes to show up in search results 🤯

People are putting "Featured on OpenAlternative" badges in their hero sections now This feels wild. Never thought the brand would carry enough weight for this

There are two ways to resolve the cognitive dissonance of being on Twitter while also caring about all the awful shit happening because of Twitter 1. Leave Twitter 2. Stop caring Profoundly disappointing how many people I like seem to have chosen the latter

Refreshed the design of Dirstarter to make it lighter and easier to read Cleaned up the typography, added more whitespace, and toned down the colors. The old version felt a bit heavy. We'll see how conversion reacts, but so far so good 🤞🏻 ➡️ dirstarter.com

Self-hosting is so easy with AI 🤯 Claude just migrated my n8n instance in 1 prompt, with data migration, DNS update, and Cloudflare tunnel. It even fixed the small issue that I had with one of the nodes 🙌🏻 Side note: love my mac mini more and more 🖤

February 2026 update for @openalternative.co 🌱 🌐 543k pageviews (+16%) 📝 682 tools (+3%) 🫵🏻 53,799 tool clicks (+7%) 💰 $6,851 revenue (+26.3%) 📈 $6,960 MRR (+21.2%) Solid month. Traffic got a nice boost from the Discord drama that went viral. Added 6 new paying subscribers too

Dirstarter just hit $30k in total revenue 🎉 • First $10k → 5 months • Second $10k → 5 months • Third $10k → 2 months Wild to see it actually accelerating. Still can't believe this is working
