So since I'm basically done with Twitter, but I'm actually invested in this damn thread for myself... My goal this year is to beat 12 games. Roughly one game per month.

So if I tell people I will double their sauce, and I double it by giving them other peoples’ sauces… Have I created a ponzu scheme?

I beat Unicorn Overlord tonight, and while I recognize that I need time for it to settle, it's certainly up there among my top games of all time. The gameplay rewards engagement without enforcing deep engagement across the whole of the systems at once, the characters feel believable, and

there's so much to do, while never feeling like you are forced into much of the side content to keep to par. There's specific places to grind if that's your thing, and the systems for the characters are great and tie into so many aspects of the game. Solid 9.5/10 for me.

Goddess above nothing makes me hate humanity more than some self-important jackanape on the internet telling me to educate myself just because I disagree with them.

Learning to airbrush. There are pretty clearly some... improvements as I've moved through this build. It's pretty fun and... *very* chill for me.

Today is the 170th day of the year, meaning 169 days have passed, and including today, there are 196 days left in the years.  This means that 13^2 days have passed, and 14^2 days remain. Given the 13th and 14th amendments, Juneteenth is also mathematically interesting.

Cross your fingers and offer up your best wishes into the universe... because with all hope and good luck, we may be finally at the conclusion of the awful, horrible, and oppressive chapter in the life of my dear friend Kara. 🧵

I cannot wait for "language changes, you don't get to decide what words mean for other people" to die the ignominious death it deserves. Your inability to use language correctly isn't justified by it being, like, your opinion, man. Yes, words change. Doesn't mean you get to use them incorrectly.

I feel like one of the most frustrating things is when there's a creator who you can see some goodness in, they're making progress on themselves as a person... and then their community is just the biggest pile of cowshit.

Too many people still confuse Software Engineering with writing code. Code is the artifact. Software Engineering is understanding the problem, making tradeoffs, designing the system, reducing complexity, and deciding what shouldn't be built. No amount of 'vibe coding' can help you with this.

Medallion's humming... that can only mean one thing! It's time to announce The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past! ⚔️

Trying to think of the most polite way to say to someone "your AI resume generator is shit and removes everything that makes a resume stand out to a recruiter, good job".

Okay, internet. I grabbed this image ages ago, and now when I try to find the source of it, I cannot find it at all.

A platform I've been self-hosting for several years now, and have been recommending to people in that time, managed to piss me off so badly that I settled for an archive of my content and blew it away for something else. The new thing is better, easier to set up, and not limiting what I can do.

dune movie enjoyers: I liked Duncan Idaho and was sad when he died dune book knowers, waiting for the new trailer: have we got some good news for you

I asked my husband to take care of a bug for me. He comes in with one of those nerf guns that shoots balls. We … don’t know where the bug went. We do, however, know where it isn’t anymore — the place it had been. We're pretty sure it's dead now, because it hasn't been seen or heard since.

Why is it that *every single person* I have ever met online whose handle references the Tralfamadorians is just an utter fuckng idiot?

Today, for the first time *at least* since I switched to an iPhone, and I'm pretty sure in quite a bit longer, my dad texted me "Happy Birthday!" This is after years of not really reaching out (but he's been on 'unlocked door' contact that whole).

I think the thing that irks me most about that Ring ad about "we help find a dog every day!" is that Ring is also being used to hurt people, and it's so apparent they're trying to paper over that fact. My dog disappeared last year. It was already a bad week when she disappeared.

Even if I thought these cameras would have actually helped me find my dog, even if I thought that they were actually sincere about helping people find their dogs, I can't justify allowing the unwitting or unconsenting release of footage to law enforcement with that fear I felt that night.

People like my neighbors - on both sides - are good people who are here trying to get by. One saved my dog. The other neighbors gave me a free TV and seemed confused why I would want an old TV. Our communities will keep us safer than Ring *ever* will, and Ring threatens those communities.

We were distraught. Eventually, I see her on our own, non-Ring, non-cloud camera, being loaded up by animal control. As it turns out, my very shy Vietnamese neighbors had taken in this scruffy little idiot overnight, kept her in their front entrance room overnight while it rained, and called AC.

The music Bad Bunny makes isn't really my cup of tea, but everything he was doing on that stage was a damn fine choice and a damn fine way to defy through joy.

Do you: 1) Live near/in Buffalo? 2) Like to organize stuff? 3) Hate what the government is doing to science? If you answered yes, help me organize the Stand Up for Science rally on March 7th! I need reps from UB, Buff State, Canisius, D’Youville to spread the word. I need general support. DM me!

There's a facet of those $50K ICE bonuses that doesn't get talked about as much. Yeah, they're on a 5 year clawback timer, but you know what's really, really insidious about that? It gives the people who are relying on it incentive to keep things going. It's intentionally across administrations.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that the quality of a customer service agent nowadays is entirely down to how they choose to give you bad news. They lie to you to "soften the blow"? Lowest quality. They tell you "hey, yeah, this system had an error, and there's nothing I can do"? Top tier.

Hello! Would you like a long, distracting read about chasing a dream, perfecting analog video, battling AI-driven manufacturing shortages, and sticking to the principle of doing right by the open source MiSTer community? Here's that

Today I got a message on LinkedIn. Wasn't a recruiter. Was someone thanking for me encouraging them at a meetup, must have been 7 or 8 years ago, to apply at the company I worked for at the time. Went from a dead-end job to a really nice career in tech. I wasn't expecting a thank you note.

If getting older was nothing but this, of getting to see the seeds you planted and continue to plant sprout and grow and be their own little spots of joy in the world, I wouldn't mind getting older.

So when I was younger, my mom *loved* the movie The American President. Genuinely, my mom watched that movie so much that it caused *discord* in my parents' marriage. So I associate it with her now, even after being no-contact for a few years. So I need to know -- is it actually any good?

So I'm watching .hack//SIGN again, and there's something hilarious about how slightly broken the translation is.

I don't call 2025 a bad year. It would cede that a year is bad if bad people do bad things in it. That would cede eternity to them. Further, those who hated this year tended to hate last year, and will probably hate next year. I can't afford that level of hopelessness. I'm fighting for too much.
