Guys only want one thing and it's a diverse fleet of amphibious platforms suitable for the assault of contested shores.

He’s 30 seconds away from claiming the golf course is a matter of national security

Trump: "The Department of Interior wants to take a terrible and very unsafe golf course, and make it into a great, safe, and prestigious golf course ... They do not need an approval. Work is scheduled to begin IMMEDIATELY!"

What's extremely telling is that there is never once an article like this written from the perspective of the person who cut off their parent.

This is a quietly metastasizing moral panic

It appears we are finally approaching the point where having too many MBAs, compliance geeks, and charlatans in cybersecurity leadership positions is finally coming to a head

She didn’t enter an order enjoining this because she trusted the gov’t. Which she had no reason to do. The witnesses obviously DGAF because they know they can’t be held in contempt. Nothing is going to happen besides yelling. Too bad for the 500 trees.

Yes, we need to ensure our judicial decisions are above reproach because SCOTUS will totally give a damn

Chris Geidner@chrisgeidner.bsky.social

For those complaining that this isn't enough. Stop it. I'm sorry that actual judges understand the importance of doing what they're doing correctly because these things, inevitably will be appealed. Judge Reyes is doing an incredible job of immediately obtaining a robust record here.

Because Reyes will pretend to be shocked that this administration is operating in bad faith and threaten sanctions next time, for realsies?

Chris Geidner@chrisgeidner.bsky.social

Don’t mess with Reyes, folks. It won’t end well for you.

We’ve been complaining that Congress sucks for decades, but the Federal judiciary is stocked with clowns

The admin’s latest NSPM aims to enlist private contractors to execute offensive cyber ops. But the companies best positioned to disrupt criminals aren’t likely to take on ill-defined risks. In an IST Commentary, Leonard Bailey argues that the NSPM's solutions only raise new questions. 🛡️ Read more:

Some of you don’t remember the Internet before it became ubiquitous or the transition period People said all kinds of stupid shit about what it would do and how everyone would lose their jobs AI adoption won’t be totally benign, but it also won’t be massively negative, as some people here claim

this is secretly an alignment problem: your agents should never default to doing things that are good for you but antisocial, and should be somewhat resistant to you asking them to do those things and good news they mostly behave that way!

Brittany@sameoldstory.co

I simultaneously think this is going to be a real problem and also can’t help but notice how much of this discourse revolves around “I’m scared AI is going to allow people to behave exactly like this guy I know does without it”

The willful lack of tech literacy around topics like this force me to admit that reflexive idiocy is not exclusively a right wing problem

It’s completely optional. It is used for TSA checkpoints at the airport, not traffic stops. Your phone never leaves your hand. You can absolutely have your fingers over the keys ready to press and lock out biometrics. Get a fucking grip.
