If you need a refresher about the issues involved in release of Vol. 2 of Jack Smith’s report, you’re not alone. The case was briefed months ago, but has been sitting on the court’s docket waiting for oral argument. I wrote about it back then: joycevance.substack.com/p/trumps-pas...

joycevance.substack.comTrump's Past Is Catching Up With HimWe’ve discussed Trump’s ongoing efforts to prevent the release of former Special Counsel Jack Smith’s report on the now-dismissed classified documents prosecution against the president.

And this morning the 11th Circuit has moved up oral argument in the case arguing for release of Vol. 2 of Jack Smith’s report to Nov 3. What’s in the water in Atlanta?

I am a scientist – and the answer is climate change. Yes, there is nuance. Yes, it could take a long time to identify the precise mechanisms. But there is no question why ice and snow-related disasters are on the rise. Our planet is warming at an unprecedented rate, and humans are responsible.

In Nepal, it will most likely take months for scientists to understand exactly what led to deadly flash floods that killed over 1,000 people and left thousands missing. Early theories posit glacier meltwater and a thawing permafrost could have contributed to bedrock collapse.

You get energy affordability by getting off fossil fuel. Clean energy is least expensive on the grid. Clean energy has less “negative externalities” (pollution). Get enough clean energy and you get free electricity periods of the day. Our offshore is 9 cents/kwh in 18-cent grid.

It matters when huge methane leakers get busted by satellites. Of course Republicans in Congress went out of their way (changed Senate rules!) to protect our worst methane leakers (aka their stinky fossil fuel donors). www.theguardian.com/environment/...

This administration continues to show its disregard for protecting free expression. After 17 years of teaching science at West Point, Dr. Adam Kalkstein was ordered to cut information about the human causes of climate change, according to a new lawsuit filed against the U.S. Military Academy.

Just like we recently saw at LNG Canada, and Golden Pass LNG in TX, and what we've seen at all of the LNG facilities we have visited, clouds of emissions coming from Freeport LNG in Texas yesterday. @txsharon.bsky.social was in Freeport yesterday sharing our research on this terminal.

I’m a climate scientist. Let me fix this headline. “Nearly a century ago, scientists showed that burning fossil fuels warms the planet. Today, we know human emissions account for over 100% of the warming. Yet dark money and disinformation still work to keep Americans addicted to fossil fuels.”
