Soft launching a new TanStack library today. Check out TanStack Pacer! A small utility library for debouncing, throttling, rate limiting, queuing, and task pooling. It's in alpha, but can't wait to see how this might evolve. Check it out at: tanstack.com/pacer

I shipped a rather large update to TanStack Hotkeys yesterday, which adds much better physical key support options, instead of mostly relying on event.key with only event.code fallbacks like before. This was an overdue correction that was needed!

From my testing, if you define hotkeys with our initial event.key string templates, you should actually have a pretty safe setup already. It's the custom hotkey recording features that add a lot of complexity and bugs, and now I think we're closer to addressing those issues with this latest update.

The string templates still use event.key matching by default, but now, if you want to force a physical key check, you can just use [] around a physical key code, Hotkey recording now defaults to physical key recording in order to fix multiple bugs across different layouts.

🌴Announcing TanStack Table V9🌴 Now Stable! TanStack Table V9 lays a new foundation for years to come, with a tree-shakable plugin architecture, state management powered by TanStack Store, new features, major performance improvements, hundreds of bug fixes, and more.

TanStack Table V9 is shipping with a record number of framework adapters from us, with refreshed support for React, Vue, Angular, Solid, Svelte, and Lit, but also brand new support for Preact, Octane, Ember, and Alpine.

Happy to announce Octane – the successor to Inferno. React’s programming model, compiled. Hooks, Suspense and Actions, compiled ahead of time. No virtual DOM. No Rules of Hooks. No manually maintained dependency arrays. The compiler understands what your code. octanejs.dev

When TanStack Table V9 launches as stable (really soon™), it will be offering a record number of adapters for us. Preact, Ember, and Alpine are new! And we're also still exploring potential Marko and Qwik V2 adapters. Writing our libraries in 95%+ vanilla JS makes this maintainable.

✅ State management with TanStack Store (React Compiler compat) ✅ Advanced re-render management with subscriptions ✅ Lower memory usage at scale ✅ Tree-shakable features with type-safety ✅ Better feature/plugin extensibility ✅ New utilities for writing re-usable/composable code ✅ Rewritten devtools

TanStack Table Week - Day 1: Now that TanStack Table V9 is built on top of TanStack Store, it allows you to fine-tune re-renders with subscriptions to state slices or individual atoms, rather than re-rendering the entire table after any state change.

For large tables, react renders start to no longer be "cheap" as promised. Having the ability to "opt-in" to re-renders anywhere in the component tree rather than mess around with difficult React.memo/useMemo hacks to "opt-out" of re-renders far down the react tree will be a massive advantage.

Finally, TanStack Start now supports React Server Components! Start's RSCs are a truly fetchable, cacheable and composable primitive that work with your favorite tools instead of dictating your entire architecture. Oh, and one more thing... "Composite Components" 😉 tanstack.com/blog/react-s...

TanStack Hotkeys now has adapters for React, Preact, Vue, Angular, Solid, Svelte, and another potential one on the way for Lit thanks to community contributions.

Anyone from the svelte community want to help with this TanStack Hotkeys PR? github.com/TanStack/hot... Ideally, someone who really knows svelte 5 runes can give this a once over and make sure we're doing it the right way. I don't think we are offering the simplest working solution yet.

Introducing TanStack Hotkeys! Setting up keyboard shortcuts is supposed to be easy and only take a few lines of code, right? Well, there are enough small "gotchas" that can eventually add up to an annoying amount of complexity. TanStack Hotkeys aims to simplify the edge cases and bring type-safety

I've added an important intro guide to the TanStack Pacer Docs. Hopefully this will clear up a lot of questions from first time users. Which utility should you choose? Should you use the Sync or Async version? Which hook variation is best?

Hey look at that! TanStack Pacer is in beta now! Pretty much all of the ideas I had for Pacer originally are in the library now. Now I think it's time for refinement, more framework adapters, and specialized docs. If you use Pacer, we want to hear your feedback.

My react-data-fetching demos have been updated! I have now built the same app 22 times for my workshop where I teach different data loading patterns in React Router, TanStack Router, Next.js, and even a bit of Astro and Sveltekit too. And, of course, how to use TanStack Query with all of them.

Kevin Van Cott@kevinvancott.dev

Over the past couple of months, I gave 3 similar talks about TanStack Query and fetching in React in general. I ended up making a monorepo with the same app built in 10+ different ways in order to show an apples to apples comparison of various ways to fetch data in your app.

I'm only just starting to lean into having AI agents running large background tasks and refactors for me. It speeds up the tedious stuff so much. There's still only a subset of work that I trust AI with though. Cursor + Claude Code and its VS Code extension is my setup right now.

Working on TanStack Pacer as a new library from roughly the ground up over the past couple months has transformed how I'm thinking about building parts of the next TanStack Table version. It has been a very refreshing experience, even if it took a lot of dedicated dev time.

I'll be putting together some official docs for how to best integrate TanStack Pacer with TanStack Query for debouncing/throttling/queuing with queries, mutations, and prefetching soon. How have you debounced or other-wise rate-limited with TanStack Query in the past?
